Of all the many complaints about airport security and the TSA, one of the most common is that they make little distinction between plausible security threats and passengers unlikely to be doing anything wrong.
And a recent incident in Wichita, Kansas has reinforced that argument, as a four-year-old girl was apparently subjected to a humiliating ordeal after she hugged her grandmother while she was waiting in line.
The girl was accused of having a gun and declared a 'high security threat', while agents threatened to shut down the whole airport if she could not be calmed down.
When asked about the overbearing treatment the girl received, a TSA spokesman did not apologise and insisted that correct procedures had been followed.
Four-year-old Isabella's horrific experience in Wichita earlier this month was recounted on Facebook by her furious mother Michelle Brademeyer.
The family was in Kansas for a wedding, and was travelling home to Montana with Ms Brademeyer's mother.
Ms Brademeyer and her two children had passed through security when the grandmother was detained after triggering an alarm on the scanners.
Isabella then, according to her mother, 'excitedly ran over to give her a hug, as children often do. They made very brief contact, no longer than a few seconds.'
The young girl was immediately detained by security agents, who apparently shouted at her that she would have to be frisked too, and refused to let her mother explain what has happening.
Ms Brademeyer wrote: 'It was implied, several times, that my mother, in their brief two-second embrace, had passed a handgun to my daughter.'

They aren't even doing that anymore. I just flew to Nor Cal and back to So Cal. I had the proper see-through bag with all my liquids in it and I had stored it in one of the zippered pouches in my suitcase (I didn't check any luggage).
I forgot to take it out of my suitcase when going through the scanners, twice, and no one said a thing. I also had hand lotion and hand sanitizer in my purse that I had forgotten about and that went through as well.
The only thing one employee worried about was the size of my carry on bag and that was on the return trip. I had to prove that the bag had already been approved on the fight there. Crazy!

We have met the enemy, and he is us.
And you ARE secure in your person ... when you are not on someone else’s land. The airport is a PUBLIC place, not your private land, nor your home.
Flying is not a right - it is a priviledge. As to how many terrorist they have caught, we do not know, nor will we ever know. Why? Because that information is classified.
Is TSA perfect? Nope, nothing of man is, or ever can be. Are there bad apples in TSA? Yup, we have bad individuals in every aspect of our life. Cops, Secret Service, soldiers, Border Agents, Drug enforcement, Bankers, Investment Agents, Doctors, Dentists, Teachers, etc. But guess what? When they are caught, you will find no stronger adovate than me, for throwing the book at them and incarcerating them to the limits of the law.
What has the TSA found? Well, some idiots from the war zones packing C4 in their carry-on to take back home to Mom. Assortments of pocket-knives, box cutters, endangered animals, drugs and pistols.
But, how many hi-jackings have we had in the past 10 years? How many successful terrorist attacks have we had? Zero, zip, nada. We are also cutting back on the illegal drug trade that used to rely heavily upon the airlines for tranporting the ‘goods’.
The bad guys still want to kill us, and if not kill - then to make us afraid. That is what terrorists do, accomplish political ends by fear and intimidation. The TSA have denied them this means to further their cause.
And if the result is that I and my fellow passengers must have a hand touch me at my chest pocket, or above my left knee (for some reason, those are my hot-spots); then so be it. I arrive safe, secure and despite travelling with some expensive equipment, I have never failed to arrive to my destination with my gear intact.
If you think the US has hard security, I suggest you compare our security against any other country. And it’s not just the airlines - try taking a cruise. You will get the metal treatment and your luggage is scanned prior to departure and upon return to the ship at every port of call. Yet, people don’t mind that at all.

Perhaps you are not aware that soon you will not be able to drive, take a bus, board an airplane or a train without a Federal Identification card. Delaware already has such a system. I refuse to give them the documents they require (marriage license, birth certificate, etc.), so my license is marked “Not for Federal Identification”. Papers, please.

Nah, against Zombies you need a head-shot. A shotgun while spreading lots of buckshot (or quarters) around, doesn't focus on the area that needs to be hit.
A .22 holds 15 Long Rifle or 22 Shorts, but I'd be looking for the Ruger 10-22 with the round magazine. Low recoil, low noise (comparitively speaking), and I'm not a bad shot. Plus the ammo is small, light and cheap.
1. Is applying common sense to situations you might encounter beneficial or not and;
2. Please define the term "Logic."
If the answers to (1) is "We don't need to use no stinkin' common sense" and
(2) "WTF is Logic," then they are moved to the front to the line and automatically hired.
What is more scary-- and someone who is more knowlegable than I care to enlightmen me on WHERE the TSA gets its authority to now roam the highways and byways, stopping us for random searches--these Nazi-like, Jackbooted THUGS are now going to be intruding into our lives even for those of us who have intentionally eschewed flying and are now driving long distances (as I did some 1,500 miles when I vacationed in Florida this past Winter) in order to avoide these morons and their stooopid procedure (which as far as I know, have yet to foil ONE SINGLE terrorist threat) at airports.
The TSA was just doing their job. Terrorizing Americans.
And what are we to do when the TSA starts doing searches on trains, automobiles, buses and at high school proms? Oh, wait minute! They are already doing that.
It may be a privilege, but it is NOT a privilege granted or controlled by the government. It is a privilege granted by a contract between the passenger and the carrier.
What we have now is a governmental intrusion carried out in typical ham-handed, incompetent, useless and counter productive manner by an agency of the government which is essentially a third party pursuing its own agenda.

And what will you have people do when the TSA starts doing security for buses, trains and ships?
You are an enabler of our loss of freedom.
That, it seems, is the real purpose of this regime..
As one who worked part time for TSA I can state, with 100% certainty, that not one agent wears jack-boots. Even the knuckle dragging mouth breathers.
The majority wear Magnums with orthotic insole supports because of having to stand around a long time while doing nothing.
