The war on terror IS over. Why would the United States war on itself? It is the principle architect of the coming terror, directed at her citizens.
I expected some sort of a “peace offensive” as a lead-up to the election because it could reap electoral benefits just thru the surprise factor. I expect more of this. Of course, none of it will have any basis in reality and the American people will be more insecure as a result which is a feature and not a bug.
