Why was good money spent on this stupid study?
What moron couldn’t put together the fact that a sinus headache and brain freeze have the same effect on a person?

It is not news that increased blood flow to the brain causes migraines. An old time ‘remedy’ used to prevent or moderate migraines is putting your hands in warm water to divert the blood flow to your hands.

They saw that increased blood flow to the brain through a blood vessel called the anterior cerebral artery, which is located in the middle of the brain behind the eyes. This increase in flow and resulting increase in size in this artery brought on the pain associated with brain freeze.
"Caffeine, because it blocks adenosine, has the opposite effects of adenosine. Caffeine constricts blood vessels in the head and neck, and increases the release of excitatory neurochemicals, so increases the rate of nerve firing. That's why caffeine is stimulating.
Caffeine has only one known mechanism of action at likely doses: occupation and blockade of adenosine receptors.
Whatever the cause of a given primary or secondary headache, if caffeine relieves that headache, it does so by blocking adenosine. That tells us something important about headaches relieved by caffeine: their causal mechanism involves adenosine binding to adenosine receptors.

The Best Part about a Brain Freeze is how good your head feels AFTER the pain stops. But it don’t last long.

I guess that explains why pressing your thumb against the roof of your mouth can stop a Brain Freeze!

This makes no sense from a thermodynamic standpoint. The flow doesn’t increase due to cold. If anything the blood vessel becomes constricted due to the drop in temperature and the flow of blood staying the same (heart keeps a pumpin) increases the pressure against the vessel wall which then pushes against the surrounding area.
It also explains both the thumb against the roof (someone else noted) which cuts off the flow thus limiting the pressure buildup further up the chain - and the 2nd way I know of which is to place a cold item on your forehead which constricts an adjacent area limiting the impact to the first.
cold increases flow...right

"The brain is one of the relatively important organs in the body, and it needs to be working all the time," study researcher Jorge Serrador, of Harvard Medical School, said in a statement. Did they study liberals to confirm this?

And all this time I thought the pain from brain freeze was the cold stimulating the maxillary branch of the trigeminal nerve, thus causing a neuralgia... hmmm, learned something today

Does anyone get visual distortion as a precurser
to migraines?
When ever I get one, the first thing that happens is
I get a shifting band of rainbow light across my vision,
like looking at a CD or something, if I take a BC powder
or a large coffee, it will fade and I won’t have a
headache but if I do nothing oh my!
