Never underestimate the anti-tax wrath of California voters. Years ago, Californians were struggling under higher and higher property taxes that were continually getting reassessed and raised, and at one point they had had enough. In 1978, Proposition 13 was proposed to cap property taxes and limit reassessments, and it passed with a huge margin despite a firestorm of opposition from every politician around. The author and chief proponent of Prop 13, gadfly Howard Jarvis, became a minor celebrity and helped author similar ballot measures in other states.

California continues to drive business out of the state and Texas is certainly one of the main beneficiaries of their fiscal short-sightedness. There's plenty of room here for those looking to start or grow a business.
Folks that have owned their homes from the 70's on up....?
Or the people that have nothing, do nothing...and take everything they can?
That said....it's becoming clearer that D.C. doesn't care what millions want or think.
The Internet: not just for finding LOLZ Catz and monkeys smoking cigars!
(my way of saying thanks for doing the research!!)
>>Post a smoking topic and see who comes out of the woodwork, and some have been here for quite some time<<
Smoke em out if you got ‘em... :)
>>So who exactly are you calling “deadbeats”?<<
No offense, OO, but California spends all its money on replicating federal programs but ELIMINATING THE REQUIREMENT THAT ONE BE A US CITIZEN!
>>Or the people that have nothing, do nothing...and take everything they can?<<
These would be the illegals California embraces and encourages, followed by the bums and losers California coddles. At the taxpayers’ dime.
Aren’t FRiends wonderful?!!!

I favor the tax and will vote for it as will most conservatives. -- Drango.
Correcto! I like the cigarette tax. It’s got a good chance of passing. Social conservatives will support it, much as they have done in many, many elections.
I’ll also go on record as saying that spending is out of control in California. New tax revenues are the last thing we need. However, the law of supply and demand says an increase in price will decrease consumption. That’s a good thing, and the reason thousands of conservatives will vote for the tax.
Your tagline precisely matches your position on this topic.
You are welcome.
Yes, I find getting accurate information much easier with computer internet access. It used to be I had to start with the public library or the yellow pages.
Now, everything is available to find, you just have to be search savvy and have the time to wade through all of the noise and disinformation.
The bad side is that there is SO much bad information floating around and it gets frequently repeated. I’ve been badly fooled on a number of occasions.
Not me. Cigarette taxes have been raised and raised again and always produce less revenue. Once they produce less revenue - You are in Line for a TAX Increase!
I lived in Maryland, where cigarette taxes were higher than nearby Virginia. Guess where smokers bought their cigarettes and which state got more revenues? Guess which state is considering increasing their citizens TAXES LIKE CRAZY RIGHT NOW??
DOH!
Liberals, Progressives and RINOs are always ignorant when they get less revenues and are always Amazed at how creative the citizenry is in Defying the intent of there Taxation.
And PS: I don't Smoke. And PS; Wonder why I don't live in MD anymore?
