The CDC reports 12 people have been hospitalized, but no deaths have been reported.
Officials are linking the outbreak to yellow fin tuna sold by Cupertino-based Moon Marine USA.
“Tainted Tuna” would make a good rock band name.
ping.
Maybe Country Joe and the Fish can make a comeback as Country Joe and the Tainted Tuna.
or Jorma Kaukonen..
Pelosi probably smells like a tainted tuna.
FWIW, what seems to be well-distributed article says that this is frozen tuna, not canned, and found for the most part in sushi:
The product is not available for sale to individual consumers but may have been used to make sushi, sashimi, ceviche and similar dishes available in restaurants and grocery stores. Many of the people who became ill reported eating raw tuna in sushi as “spicy tuna,” the FDA said.

All the $trillions we spend on regulations and we are still getting sick? If we spend $30 trillion a year will we be safe then?
Thanks for the update. The article I linked to has limited information. We haven’t purchased any sushi or sashimi for about a month.
30 Trillion won’t make us safe. But maybe 30 trillion plus one dollar might do it. You never know until you try.
There must be a very inappropriate politically incorrect Nancy Pelosi joke here somewhere.
Never liked sushi anyway.
I may have struck a nerve. I just received an e-mail advising me that the Rotten Stinking Tunas of America are outraged at being compared to Nancy Pelosi.
Whew...! There has never been a single cell of sushi on my lips. For once I don’t have to worry about the latest outbreak.
Sushi may or may not have fish in it. It can be ordered with only vegetables.
You can still do ok at a sushi place without worrying about raw fish. In addition to the veg-only ones (i.e. cucumber roll), there are at least half a dozen types of sushi that are cooked: shrimp roll, shrimp tempura roll, spider roll (deep fried crab), good old California roll, salmon skin roll (it’s from cooked salmon), and the one they make from eel. Plus, at some of the more Americanized ones, they’ll batter and deep fry the whole roll.
Or a venerial disease.
But the fish are the tainted part, ...this time.
Take that whichever way you want to, 'k? :-)
Cool! When I see the sushi joints in the movies, everyone is eating raw fish.
Nasty! Now, why’d you have to go there with such a horrible image!!!!
