Basically the GOP is too divided to ever unite. There is a deep level of distrust and various factions want different things. People do not agree on whom the best candidates are anymore. Us Conservatives, like me, were all over the map as person after person fell apart in the presidential republican primary. Romney is the final nail in the coffin. Newt, to me, has no chance and he has his own baggage. He has a good message though, but it is too late to do much. I personally think it is time to just end the party.
A Coup d'état was executed in 2008 and no one noticed. I stated before Jan 14th that this would be the last election that mattered, maybe even the last election.
If you vote for Romney you will always be doomed to get more Romney. I thank God for Romney. My eyes are opened.
OK, care to take a poll and find out how many freepers are not voting for Romney, if he is on the ticket? Be sure and tell them they are all nonsensical.
You managed to insult every conservative faction on this forum with this post. Are you sure you are on the right forum?
We will not waste our limited resources on FR in support for a liberal progressive LIAR
Agreed, I think he governs like Bush 41 or Ford. Why should Romney feel any need to give the conservatives of the party the time of day if he wins.
He has ignored us the entire primary so why would he change is elected?
Either way, conservatives are in for very dark years no matter who wins.
It would be excellent for Huffington Post.

What is your issue with my analysis, itsahoot?
You sound as if you don’t agree with it, but I am not sure why. Did you read the entire post?
Please explain.
This verse might be useful to remember.
1Sa 8:7 And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.
you’re a fool if you believe the conservative agenda is best served by weakening the GOP. A conservative split would be a definite liberal touchdown. Romney is a jellyfish. He floats along with the currents. Our agenda is best served by controlling those currents and that is accomplushed by electing conservative Republicans at the state level and the congressional level. And yes, there has been conservative progress despite democratic control of the Senate and the Whitehouse. Imagine what we can do with full control of the congress and the whitehouse.
Funny, I had all those rights when I was born, over 70 years ago, how was it I lost them again?
You mean like the GOPe demanding that Christians shut up about abortion, go to the end of the line, we will try to do better next time, those ones? The ones that force us to like the repeal of DADT, the approval of Gay agenda in our schools, the ones that outlaw the Boy Scouts because they won't allow Gay scout Masters, those ones?
1Sa 8:7 And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.
Maybe you should take your concerns to the GOPe, because most here are fixin to mess-up according to your definition. No Romney supporters here at least not once they out themselves.

We have only been offered one that is less evil than the other one, but evil nevertheless.
This will almost assuredly be my last election and I refuse to vote for the lessor evil. It is time for a revolt against the New World Order that has deceived us for so many years.
No, I didn’t insult almost every faction on here, just the unreasonable ones that refuse to see simple logic.
Sometimes many on both sides are so hung up on a candidate (2008 Obama voters) that they can’t see when that candidate is no longer viable and doesn’t have a chance no matter how you run the numbers (Santorum/Newt).
Our choices this election cycle basically sucked, my personal choice would of been Gary Johnson, but he never got a chance during the debates or in the media, now does that mean I won’t vote now that I didn’t get my choice, no it doesn’t since I believe getting Obama out of office is more important.
If some one feels insulted that’s their issue, not mine my friend.
I understand your frustration completely, but my post (using the rule of threes) was to explain the current situation to give some context to the dynamic on the conservative side that we see today.
I was curious because your tone seemed hostile to me and my post, specifically (I feel that way when someone tells me a post of mine is better suited to DU or Huffington Post) and I thought you might have misunderstood me.
I was in no way advocating for or against voting for Mitt Romney, or any other candidate, but explaining how I see the Conservative side of the electorate today.
I will come on later when I get home and re-post something I wrote sometime in the past two years, I don’t remember when, when Scott Brown threw his support behind homosexuals in the military. It was rash, hostile and so full of anger it was unlike me, or so I thought. I made some people angry on FR, and in retrospect, rightfully so.
(In summary, I was so angry that I vowed to vote for the most liberal candidate I could to speed up the dissolution of the country, in that it might be reconstituted correctly in my lifetime. Being in Massachusetts, I could find some very liberal candidates indeed. In any case, it was an extraordinarily pessimistic commentary, and some Freepers I respected highly condemned me. I was in a pretty hot mood.)
Point is, I have always voted from Massachusetts, and the post illustrated the anger and disillusionment I felt (and feel) as a voter, particularly from this part of the country.
Unlike many people who might have to hold their nose and vote for a candidate like McCain or Dole, they at least had the possibility of voting for someone like Allen West or any number of other candidates who might actually be good, viable conservatives.
I had never, ever, EVER had even that small luxury, only getting candidates like Kerry, Kennedy, Meehan, and so on.
Year after year, my vote was completely and totally worthless. I deluded myself into thinking Scott Brown was something he was not, because I was desperate to vote for ANYONE but Kerry and Kennedy. That was my fault, but I don’t fault myself too much after a electoral lifetime of being presented with those choices. Talk about a drowning man grabbing a straw.
Well said, FRiend.
“...other conservatives who are willing to stand on their principles.”
Did you stand for your principles at the last election? How about the one before that? And before that?
There was not one conservative in any prior election for the last 20 years.
At every election we have had to compromise on our principles. And now you decide to take a stand? On the most important election of our time?
See my post to CommerceComet on #118.
Most excellent verse: Thank you!
Be blessed!
