Fast and Furious Scandal Launched Into 2012 Presidential Election by Mitt Romney
Townhall.com ^ | April 13, 2012 | Katie Pavlich

Posted on 04/13/2012 1:34:55 PM PDT by Kaslin

GOP Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney applauded House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa and Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley for their efforts to investigate the Obama Justice Department’s lethal Operation Fast and Furious scandal today during a speech at the NRA Annual Meeting Leadership Forum in St. Louis. This is the first time any GOP presidential candidate has mentioned the Fast and Furious scandal by name in a public event speech, officially bringing the scandal into the 2012 general election with President Barack Obama. Romney also embraced the NRA’s calls for Attorney General Eric Holder to resign or be fired for his role in Fast and Furious.

"I applaud Congressman Issa and Senator Grassley for their work in exposing the “Fast and Furious” scandal. And I applaud NRA leadership for being among the first and most vocal in calling upon Attorney General Holder to resign," Romney said.

To give readers some context, out of more than 21 debates during the 2012 GOP presidential primary, Fast and Furious was mentioned once.

Update: GOP Presidential Candidate Newt Gingrich also mentioned Fast and Furious in his remarks, saying we must "get to the bottom of Operation Fast and Furious."

F&F was the pet project of Obama, Calderon, Sinaloa cartel, Clinton, Napolitano, Holder, DEA and FBI and ATF, to funnel cash to the corrupt US and Mexican authorities, and illegally supply US legal guns to the cartels, and illicit drugs to the American addicts via the drug cartels, along with US financial aid and armaments to the Mexican army and to the mexican cartels.

More people have died in this misadventure than in Afghanistan, including US government border patrol and other officials, and thousands of Mexicans.

The drug war has been lucrative for these corrupt politicos and functionaries, but the masters have lost control of it and now it is open warfare in our own streets and cities (Zeta shoot-out in Houston in broad daylight a few months ago).

F&F should be issue #1 in front of the Congress for impeachment of the criminal US government Obama administration.

“Not broken, completely expected from a man who is used to pandering to whichever crowd he’s speaking to”

i guess he shouldn’t bring up any issues that would resonate with those he was speaking to? isn’t that what speakers do, and particularly those who are running for office? i guess he could have talked about the administration’s attempt to force Catholic-affiliated institutions to pay for birth control, or about the wealthy not paying enough taxes? issues, other than gun control, that the NRA members would be much more interested in.

Or he could try being honest. Of course that would lead to his pathetic ass being driven off the stage.

Will he ever mention F&F outside an NRA meeting?

Not unless the winds are blowing right for it.

I mean, either Holder is guilty, or the ATF neeeds to be declared as a rogue agency. But the RINO Romney does not want to get to the bottom of that, so he will blabber against zero, looking conservative, instead of giving real direction and policy actions to the american people that are concrete.

The kink in RINO politics is that only liberals or conservatives have a form of actionable items. RINOs are known to sit there and do nothing like a bunch of morons, and that is why they always refuse to get elected in the end. Their role seems to syphon votes, and that is it.

I agree. The only time RINOs bring up an important issue is when they want votes either from their colleagues on the floor or their constituents in a general election. And for contributions of money. Once they get that it’s like they never heard of the issue. There is no fight in them at all on the principle of a thing. To blazes with them!
