Cheney Mason, the freewheeling criminal defense attorney who successfully defended tot mom Casey Anthony, is shaking his head over the second-degree murder charge against George Zimmerman in the shooting of Trayvon Martin.
The charge leveled by prosecutor Angela Corey is too severe and reeks of political calculus, Mason said.
“It’s political prostitution,” Mason said. “Now I don’t have all the facts – no one does – but you look at what we know of the case and it looks like the prosecutor bowed to other pressures.
“The fact is there is lots of racial bigotry in this case,” Mason said. “And a lot of it is coming from the side of Trayvon Martin’s family. I can understand why his family is upset. They lost a child. But they weren’t at the crime scene. None of us was.”
Mason said Corey is too zealous of a prosecutor.
"This is a person who wanted to put a 12-year-old boy as an adult for murder. It’s just too much,” Mason said.

Mason said there will be a hearing under Florida’s Stand Your Ground law – which expands the right to use deadly force -- and the charges could be dropped then by a judge. But, Mason said, “people are using Stand Your Ground to obfuscate the facts of this case. This comes down to the fundamentals of homicide. What’s the evidence? The burden of proof is on the prosecution. It’s not on George Zimmerman. And you can’t blame Stand Your Ground for this tragedy.”
Okay. But there are plenty of folks nationwide that would vote for Obama just to keep the peace.
Actually you've made a good point here. They will forget especially when it's proven Zimmerman was defending himself if that's the case.
I think “none of was there” is correct. However “The fact is there is lots of racial bigotry in this case” should be changed to read, “the fact is there is a lot of racial...”
Blacks are in the bag for Obama. This is about scaring whites into voting for him.
I think EPU is on to this. It's true that the black population is in the bag for Obama. But they are not as motivated to get to the polls in November to re-elect him as they were to vote for him the first time.
They will use and manipulate events like this to rekindle that motivation.
Sure; they’ll take what they can get in collateral votes. But what got blacks to turn out 93% for a lily-white loser like Gore? Obama needs whites. To some, the only real difference between Romney and Obama will be that with Obama, America’s metropolitan areas won’t burst into flames.
Watch Corey walk out winking and nodding at the cameras and her media friends in the room as if she was at the Academy Awards.

Corey, clearly giddy about the attention, is smiling ear to ear, during a news conference speech about some guy that was shot dead.
Corey is a disgusting political whore who is more concerned with her career and appeasing the black racist and media, than justice.
Watching that woman give her speech was disturbing!

Corey is a political pig and watching here give her long drawn out speech, was severely painful and should have been enough to make most Americans recoil in disgust.

Trayvon’s mother later explained that she meant that it was an accident that Trayvon and George’s paths crossed, but she is still claiming that George shot Trayvon as a “cold-blooded murder.”
Fact is, Zimmerman's life is over if he doesn't have a trial and clear his name.
Second degree murder is an unwinnable charge for the prosecutor. Manslaughter, maybe, but not murder 2.
Whether intentional or not, she has done him as big a favor as he can hope for under the circumstances.

One or two black victim-class types on the jury who refuse to vote the law and there is no slam dunk. It's a hung jury.

If Corey and the government did Zimmerman a favor, what happens if the jury is stacked with black racist, like what happened in the OJ trial, but he is found guilty here?

There is nothing wrong with Mason's grammar in his statement, "None of us was."
So perhaps you are criticizing Harvard graduates?
It's when the feds are running the show that the juries get stacked.

If she is on Zimmerman’s side, so are Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.
He didn't even ask for bail.
He's there because he obviously considers it to be the safest place for him.
Goes along with my contention that he called the prosecutor and begged her to bring charges.
If you believe that Zimmerman will be acquited, you are living in the twilight zone.
