- During a meeting with 18 Delaware Tea Party leaders here on Wednesday, Newt Gingrich lambasted The Fox News Channel, accusing the cable news network that employed him as recently as last year of having been in the tank for Mitt Romney from the beginning of the Republican presidential fight and singling out former colleagues for attacking him out of what he characterized as personal jealousy.
I think Fox has been for Romney all the way through, Gingrich said during the private meeting at Wesley College to which RealClearPolitics was granted access. In our experience, Callista and I both believe CNN is less biased than Fox this year. We are more likely to get neutral coverage out of CNN than we are of Fox, and were more likely to get distortion out of Fox. Thats just a fact.
Gingrichs contract as a Fox News contributor was terminated last spring, as he was gearing up for his White House run.
The former House Speakers blunt remarks about Fox came in response to a question from one of the Delaware Tea Party leaders about the manner in which his campaign has been treated by conservative media outlets.
Gingrich did not pull his punches in accusing Rupert Murdoch -- the chairman and CEO of the News Corporation, Fox News parent company -- of pushing for Romney behind the scenes.
I assume its because Murdoch at some point said, I want Romney, and so fair and balanced became Romney, Gingrich said. And theres no question that Fox had a lot to do with stopping my campaign because such a high percentage of our base watches Fox.
Gingrich saved his most personal condemnation for George Will, a conservative columnist and frequent television commentator, who has been critical ...(read more)

>>Because Newts a progressive.<<
I’m in to GBTV. This has bugged me too.
I would have taken Rick or Newt. Now it’s just Newt. What Beck doesn’t realize is that he can pull a ‘progressive’ who loves the country, a Marxist who hates it or a Ken doll who spins in the direction of the nearest dollar and abuse animals.
I vote for the one who loves the country.
Ill take Romney.
***********
I have no doubt you will.
Well, he won’t raise a fortune by zotting all the Romney voters because most of us are Romney voters now.
The rest are more active on the site right now, but the sane among us are disappointed that we couldn’t get a more conservative candidate, but we certainly don’t intend to hand four more years to Obama.
Will is a horrible writer. At his worst on baseball!
Me too. Newt is my war horse.
“I vote for the one who loves the country.”
Whoop whoop! Newt!
Newt supporters never said he was. KMA and move on.
Many like him the most but fear he carries too much baggage. Fox had an exit poll of FL and many liked Newt the most but voted for Romney because of the “win factor”. Yes, Romney was in the media’s pocket, but he is now being thrown out and replaced with Obummer. We MUST get rid of this traitor to save our country or to save it from civil war. If you refuse to vote Republican, you have yourself to blame, and you will get what you deserve.

Little Green Footballs redux; complete with obsequious, tattling sycophants hoping for a pat on the head from the big guy for their efforts at cleansing the place of dissension. Wonder what the LGF hit count is these days.
How Jim? How did a distaste for Romney, which we all share, morph into required and enforced fealty to the always fringe and always hopeless candidacy of Newt Gingrich, complete with enforcers like the one I am replying to?
Newt is right.
Pretty full of yourself aren’t you?
I like having choices.
Newt is on CSPAN right now 10:00 pm EST—his speech earlier tonight at Wellesley College in Dover, DE.
I know of one other FReeper that shares my exact same take on romney and this primary election... Jim Robinson.
LLS
Sorry--meant to say "Wesley", not Wellesley.
No irony there.
Hey, I’m with you. I’m IN until Newt’s OUT. :)
The thread trolls don’t bother me.
From what I hear, they are predictably going to show up to run interference and agitate for nefarious groups against conservatives in a rowdy election season.
My point was meant to speak to the surprises I’ve encountered, from some who are suddenly willing to throw in the towel and leapfrog the current primary, in favor of getting on with the general election, and I guess just skip the rest of the states and delegates out there.
It is an exciting time to be a Newt supporter, and the RINOS deserve to feel the heat and to hear from our standard bearer!
