The Fate of Rick Santorum’s Delegates
ABC News ^ | 4/10/2012 | Chris Good

Posted on 04/10/2012 8:48:34 PM PDT by Taiowa

Now that Rick Santorum is out of the race, what happens to his delegates? Santorum has 285 delegates, according to the latest ABC News delegate estimate, second to Mitt Romney’s 661...

...But some of those delegates were never really “his.” ABC estimates that 78 Santorum delegates, from his wins in states that don’t “award” their delegates – Iowa, Colorado, Minnesota, and North Dakota, would have been free to support any candidate at the Republican National Convention in Tampa...

Another two of Santorum’s delegates were Republican National Committee superdelegates, who will attend the convention by virtue of their positions in the party, and are also free to support whomever they choose in Tampa.

MO GOP sure is wimpy, isn’t it? That’s why we have hardly any bench to go up against the sea hag, Claire McAskill. Very frustrating.

I would vote for any repub to beat 0.

Besides the fact that you have been insulting anybody and everybody on FR that you can, here's your biggest mistake: You've bought into the illusion that a pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, pro-gun grabbing, pro-Big Government socalist wannabe from Massachusetts is somehow better than a pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, pro-gun grabbing, pro-Big Government socalist from Chicago, simply because the liberal from Massachusetts has an (R) next to his name.

When somebody like Willard Romney is the Republican frontrunner, all that proves is that party labels mean nothing these days.

What's more important is whether you are a Conservative or not. By all definitions, Romney fails that test. He wants us to judge Obama by his record, and that is fair, but what is also fair is that we should judge Romney by his record, and his record as Governor is one that any liberal would be proud of.

Go back and look at Mitten's record, look at the timing of when he changed his stances on certain issues - everything he does is driven by trying to win office. He changed his mind on abortion at the same time he was looking at the White House? Coincidence? I think not. The Etch-a-Sketch comment was incredibly telling and incredibly accurate.

You should stop asking all of us to vote for Romney, because all your doing is asking us to vote for one liberal over another liberal simply because your liberal of choice has an (R) next to his name.

magritte, guess what I just read! the MO house passed a proposal summary requiring voter id at the polls. IF it passes the senate we will vote on it this year.

The need to stop Obama trumps pretty much everything else, imo.

Not yet for sure, and maybe not really at all.

If we get 68 Senate seats, Obama is history next spring. Think about that.

If Romney goes down in a 49-State sweep, like McGovern, that will deliver, I think, the "necessary" message to the Yacht Club.

That sounds fair to me: 49 States for them, 68 Senate seats for us, and Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, and Rick Perry cleaning house at the RNC and RNCC. I'll take that anytime.

Note to Sarah: When the RNC guys clean out their desks, make them take their condoms and gerbils with them.

That might happen...if Newt hadn’t been so intent on burning all of his bridges between himself and Rick.

“He is saying this already. He cannot even support Newt. Unbelievable.”

Santorum was always an ungrateful backstabber going all the way back to the House “coupe” against Newt back in the late 1990’s. Nothing new here.

I would pass out if that happens.I just dont see santorum doing that however I could see and expect santorum to endorse romney. This thing has fix all over it.

"The problem is, Rick Santorum cannot endorse Mitt Romney without violating the closely held principles he said were his drivers and motivation to enter the race in the first place. He stands with Newt, by his own testimony, on a host of issues and holds almost nothing in common with the Saul Alinsky Big Lie Campaign that Romney and his attack pac have waged against him.

Paraphrasing Newt, talking about his own race last Easter Sunday, (4/8/2012) all Newt has to offer him is the shadow of The Cross, a chance to sacrifice, a likely road to debt and so on. I am praying that he is a true patriot and is unwilling at any price to see our election process so abused, destroyed by a Romney win.

I'm hoping and praying that the words of our founders concerning their quest for Liberty rings in his heart and mind and that he is willing to Pledge his life, his fortune and his sacred honor for Liberty and finds in his heart the courage to endorse, campaign with and participate in our patriotic task of saving our Republic from the Saul Alinskyites. I don’t hate the guy, but is criticism not allowed at ALL???

I’ve never supported Romney - we have had great conservatives in Cain, Perry and Newt. I just don’t like RS’ voting record on a lot of issues over the years. Plus, with his emphasis almost exclusively on social and faith matters, I don’t think he had a chance against BHO any more than Romney does.

But hate? Never. That’s reserved only for BHO and his fellow anti-American radicals.

I, too, live in MO and what an irritating mess indeed! In ‘08, we had a regular primary. I do wish it hadn’t been an open one, however, and it was also winner take all, which I don’t like. But a primary is SO preferrable over what happened this year. I really feel cheated.

I feel cheated, too. Like a dirty trick was played on us. Stupid Missouri. I hope they get this figured out next time. This was an embarrassment to our state.

I like Steelman (first of all, because she’s running against the despicable Claire) and will vote for her!
