Businesses have caught on and are using part time work so they aren’t out any benefits. That’s a good portion of what’s hurting the economy.

I wonder how the welfare/foodstamp/medical card numbers compare/contrast with the unemployment numbers?

It would seem to me that those even trying to stay independent may find themselves up against a wall.

I can live on Ramen and eggs w/coffee ... but can/will others ?

The turds in Barry’s state run “media” are just orgasmic over this! It’s making Barry’s Obamanomics look like it’s working. Americans aren’t very smart. They’re eating it up. You can’t get all of your information from Ken and Barbie 30 second soundbites on the nightly “news” and expect to be very informed.

This figure does not compute . . . But if it is half that number, it is devastating for the 0bama Regime.

Without even opening the link, this has to be one of the worst written stories ever.

First, 10 million illegals and 25+ million legal immigrants in the labor force are not Americans.

Second, The USA has 311 milion+ Americans. Give me a pie chart that shows the number under age 18; the number 18+ fulltime students; the number in prison, jail, mental wards, etc; the number retired; the number with true disability; the number on welfare; etc. only then can we talk about the number faking disability; the number unemployed and not looking for work (discouraged); the number unemployed and looking for work and willing to take any job to keep their pride; the number only willing to take a job that pays more than their worth; the number working in the underground economy; and finally the number actually working.

Only by considering the entire pie can any sense be made of talking about one or two slices of the pie.

And for the people that were working, earnings were down 0.2%, and we all know what prices are doing, not a good mix.

With almost 88 Million of the 310 Million Americans out of work 28% unemployment, We can only call this The Greatest Depression.

Under GWB unemployment was 4% and now it's 28% under Obama.

real unemployment stands at 19.1%.

There it is Jim. There is the real truth. 8.2 my foot. That is a lie. 87 MILLION not working. That has to include retirees. Since we have what, 312 million citizens.

That’s more than the combined population of California, Texas and New York.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Workhouse
Patrick Colquhoun, 1806

Poverty ... is a most necessary and indispensable ingredient in society, without which nations and communities could not exist in a state of civilisation. It is the lot of man – it is the source of wealth, since without poverty there would be no labour, and without labour there could be no riches, no refinement, no comfort, and no benefit to those who may be possessed of wealth

Does the 88 million include children and retirees, or only people of working age?

I’m sure the real figures are higher than the ones we are given, in any case.

That is an astonishing number of discouraged people. Not all or even a majority of them are moochers, just people who have tried the typical solutions unsuccessfully and are now at a loss of what to do.
