Obama: ‘Google, Facebook Would Not Exist’ Without Government Funding

(CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama insisted Thursday that without government spending, “Google, Facebook would not exist.”

Obama made the remark at a campaign fundraiser while criticizing the budget passed by House Republicans. Obama said the Rep. Paul Ryan’s budget would, among other things, cut funding for research.

“I believe in investing in basic research and science because I understand that all these extraordinary companies that are these enormous wealth-generators -- many of them would have never been there; Google, Facebook would not exist, had it not been for investments that we made as a country in basic science and research,” Obama said. “I understand that makes us all better off.”

Obama said Ryan’s budget would gut “an advanced, responsible society.”

“I gave a speech on Tuesday about the congressional budget that’s been proposed by the Republicans in the House of Representatives -- a budget that Gov. Romney, who is the frontrunner on the Republican side, has embraced -- said the budget was marvelous.”

But Obama said the “vision” portrayed by the Ryan budget “is of an America where everybody is fending for themselves, a few are doing very well at the top, and everybody else is struggling to get by.”

The more important government is, the more important government officials are. That, more than any other factor, is that absolute reason why liberals are liberals. Obama loves Obama, Pelosi loves Pelosi. Hillary loves Hillary. They all want to be special, which is the hallmark of the modern leftist liberal. It is very sad. Without the internet neither Facebook or Google would exist. We all know of course that Al Gore developed the internet.

Granted, people like Vint Cerf and Steve Crocker [with both of whom I have worked] were funded by the government to develop the method of peer-peer communication between computers - this was just a MINISCULE part of what we know as the Internet today ...
