Breaking: NBC Fires Producer Who Created False Zimmerman Audio By Matthew Sheffield Created 04/06/2012 - 7:55pm
NBC News has fired the producer it says was responsible for creating the deceptive audio recording of George Zimmerman communicating with a 9-1-1 operator, according to the New York Times.
The network is still refusing to release the name of the producer, although according to Times reporter Brian Stelter, the producer is based in Miami and has worked there for a number of years. According to Stelter's network sources, NBC is still insisting the deceptive edit was not done deliberatiely. The network has refused to say how exactly someone could accidentally have edited the tape to make Zimmerman appear to be racially motivated:
NBC News has fired a producer who was involved in the production of a misleading segment about the Trayvon Martin case in Florida.
The person was fired on Thursday, according to two people with direct knowledge of the disciplinary action who declined to be identified discussing internal company matters. They also declined to name the fired producer. A spokeswoman for NBC News declined to comment.
The action came in the wake of an internal investigation by NBC News into the production of the segment, which strung together audio clips in such a way that made George Zimmermans shooting of Mr. Martin sound racially motivated. Ever since the Feb. 26 shooting, there has been a continuing debate about whether race was a factor in the incident.
The segment in question was shown on the Today show on March 27. It included audio of Mr. Zimmerman saying, This guy looks like hes up to no good. He looks black.
But Mr. Zimmermans comments had been taken grossly out of context by NBC. [...]
The editing of the segment was initially noticed by NewsBusters, an arm of the Media Research Center, a conservative media monitoring group. On March 31, NBC told The Washington Post that it would investigate. [...]
The people with direct knowledge of the firing characterized the misleading edit as a mistake, not a purposeful act.
While NBC has taken a good first step toward rectifying the situation, until the network releases the name of the person and explains its theory that the edit was not deliberate, its credibility is still under question.
Full Times story is here.
His is the head that needs to roll.
hunh. i wonder what cnn gave him for a signing bonus.
I wonder how much cash this Commie propagandizing producer will get from the same rich Leftists who funnel money to, anong other Reds, the talentless Clintons.
Not good enough.
He/ she/ it needs to be named, charged with a hate crime, charged with inciting riots, sued, and jailed.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
As late as 10 years ago he wold have gotten the pulitzer
Ah—a human sacrifice. The phony edit gods will be pleased.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
If the goal was to remove simply the 911 dispatcher’s voice and retain Zimmerman’s remarks, they erred when they removed the comments “he looks like he’s on drugs or something” in the middle.
It was an attempt to combine the “no good” aspect with “he looks black” as if to justify the perception that he must be up to no good.
Stalinist media lies like a Stalinist.
No matter how many people they fire, as long as they keep saying it was a “mistake” they will continue to have no credibility.
Maybe they just re-hired him.
And assuming NBC did fire somebody in FL, that doesn't mean the person was involved in a Zimmerman story at all.
And I agree with the post above - until NBC can describe its story clearing process, and how it went wring, all they are doing is taking advantage of the incident to dump an employee who isn't full-blown communist.
So only NBC had access to the tapes?
Or did their media brethren know and do nothing to point out the undisclosed redaction?
Only after Rush beat them into a corner, then beat the corner flat.
Words fail me. How does one respond to a lie that outrageous?
Just as serious is what Toure unwittingly revealed to Piers Morgan - that MSNBC isn’t interested in hearing both sides of the story (”Zimmerman’s brother wouldn’t even make it on to the network”).
So much for objectivity.
NBC is most likely acting on the advice of lawyers trying to limit liability. Zimmerman should go after them if he can. They’re running scared legally IMHO.
NBC should fire itself.
This must have really stung to have to take the time to go down inside the inner bowels of the news organization to find a scape goat.
“The editing of the segment was initially noticed by NewsBusters, an arm of the Media Research Center, a conservative media monitoring group.”

I consider this a milestone event. First with Rathergate, and continuing now with this episode, it is becoming more and more clear that the Left cannot fabricate unanswered, lying propaganda any longer.
I wish we had a time machine so that, for example, all the damage wrought by the lying Comrade Walter Cronkite, regarding the clear American victory during the Vietnam Wars’s Tet offensive, could be negated.
Nice work Brent Bozell.
