I still think Santorum is and always has been in this thing with Romney.

Hang in there. Romney is going to begin moving to the center soon with buyer's remorse following thereafter.

I tend to agree. If he loses his home state for the second consecutive time, he will have no chance in 2016 (not that he does anyway).

Maybe he will drop out and give Newt a boost.

Isn’t his career already over anyway if he transparently drops out to avoid said career-crushing loss in PA? I think the guy has to stay in through PA at this point.

i really am perplexed by the anti-Rick comments by the anti-Mitts.

i’d like to see mitt lose PA NC IN WV and Rs is the only one to beat him right now. Look at the MAY calendar. Could be a struggle for mitt ... through TX.

Actually I think he has to stay in at least until Pennsylvania. One of the relentless charges against him this round is that he lost so badly in his Senate bid. If he wins PA, he undoes that. If he doesn't, he's no worse. Besides he's good on the stump and has time to work it. So Romney gets to burn through some more money, and pass out subs with Toomey this time. It's all good.

Sarah Palin needs to be the ‘12 GOP POTUS candidate, so that all of this “madness and frustration for all conservatives, everywhere” can, finally, end! Please, and Thank You!

It’s a shame, but I hope he releases all his delegates to Newt if he does this.

Fedewa speculated that Santorum may be encountering what Huckabee faced near the end of his campaign.

Gee, what a shock, a Huckabee comparison!

I think Santorum has caused enough trouble in more ways than he may even realize. The insiders and the media used him ( to stop Newt Gingrich of preventing Romney of having nearly a 4 year old promise; that he is next in line to run at the top of the ticket ) Yes, even Rush (loyalty to his boss and the Bushes), did as well. This entire primary has been hard to watch since we are missing a perfect opportunity to have much needed reforms. All that we will end up with is either Obama or a liberal democrat who feels more comfortable working with liberal ideas than a conservative idea. Because he does not fully understand conservative ideas. Romney’s wife even made a remark that she doesn’t know any conservatives. Romney’s record is troublesome and gives us proof for those concerns. We are not extremists. The conservatives have to see, there is no place for them where we are wanted at the table of ideas. Moderates are winning the debate and Romney’s win will do much damage to the party. Do they think voters will respect this kind of leadership!? Romney, attack to win strategy.

Rush is saved-his family values base never figures it out. Palin stepped aside after Rick Perry got in> that’s when her Jesus moment came> there was not room for a number of conservatives aiming for a specific group of voters (the party’s base). She knew this was going to happen-divide us like before. Rick, if only he had put his country first (not his faith), had united with Newt long ago, we could be looking at a different outlook. Palin would have helped Newt more and the party knows that. Look at the signals she gave.

Drudge, Ann/ Andy, Daily Caller, The Hill, Fox News and others have been doing whatever it takes to put out misleading stories. Rush set up the weak guy so others would go towards Mitt. The longer Rick stayed in, the more voters went to Mitt. The media’s next step will be to destroy Rick Santorum. Maybe, he should go for his own peace of mind. The only thing we can do is pray that the delegates at Tampa will refuse Romney on site- they don’t have to accept him-and who cares if the party’s world is embarrassed and Liberal Mitt is told that he is not trusted.

Mitt Romney looks like an undertaker-who will say anything to get your trust. Romney is not better than Obama distrustfully, a lair and appears to be set up candidate. There is no way that I will be supporting him nor voting for him. The more that I see of this primary, it looks to be rigged. It will be interesting to see the GOP getting a slap down because it is coming and the Obama people know it. We will never set our conservative agenda in place with the moderates. It is not working when you have 2 parties almost of the same. I am done watching Mitt Tv-. From Rubio, Paul Ryan being Mitt’s best friend to further their careers, nothing more. This stuff is not inspirational, it’s divide and conquer practices only.

Romney lost a bunch of primaries in 2008 and that didn’t stop him this time. Santorum losing PA can easily be waved away as people wanting a late primary to be over. And if Romney loses the general election, the entire mindset of the voters in this primary will be called into question and won’t hold any weight. Santorum has an incredibly favorable batch of states coming up in May and THAT’S what the GOP elites are afraid of. It might not be enough to stop Romney from getting the nomination, but he could have a long series of embarrassing losses.

Trying to inject this fear of losing his home state into Santorum to cause him to drop out is just the latest establishment talking point being used to push Romney on us. FOX News was pushing that meme hardcore last night as soon as the results were in.

By the way, if Romney is so inevitable, why doesn’t he stop spending money on advertising at all from now on? His inevitability should be enough to sweep him over the finish line, right? Is he wasting precious campaign funds that can be used against Obama merely to humiliate an opponent who is going to be beaten anyway? That doesn’t seem like it’s “for the good of the party.”

Great title for a news article article. /sarc

Could just as easily say "maybe not", (or may not).

So what?

We already know the liberal mass media and Republocrat Establishment have an identical an agenda.

Let me run it past some of the FReepers who might be "dense" and have not gotten it yet.

A) The US MSM overwhelming wants Barack Obama re-elected.

B) As in 2008, they want to field the poorest GOP candidate, a moderate without a strong central core, to demoralize the Conservative Base, and they want no conservative voice at the GOP convention, either in nominee, rules/planks/platform/messaging.

C) They want to create a narrative, such as "this one has the GOP nomination", or "that one might drop out", when in fact much of it is speculation and as we know, many more Americans are yet to vote to have their say, Mitt Romney does not have the nomination at this time, there are still three other active candidates on the field who can also continue to gain delegates.

D)The US MSM narrative now is the Mitt Romney will be the nominee. At the appropriate time, they will bring out the messaging on him which will cause his defeat at the hands of Barack Obama.

In all due respect, really, to engage in this discussion here on Vice Presidential candidates is an insult to the Presidential candidates still campaigning, raising money, receiving delegates (such as Santorum did in Wisconsin), etc. So I just say we shelve it for the time being. Not taking that bait anyways (and that is outside of my own opinion of Paul Ryan dropping dramatically).

PPP poll

Mitt Romney’s taken the lead in PPP’s newest poll of Rick Santorum’s home state of Pennsylvania. Romney has 42% to 37% for Santorum with Ron Paul at 9% and Newt Gingrich at 6%. The numbers represent a dramatic turnaround from when PPP polled the state a month ago. Romney’s gained 17 points, going from 25% to 42%. Meanwhile Santorum’s dropped 6 points from 43% to 37%, for an overall swing of 23 points in the last four weeks.

Ricky’s “political career” ended years ago when he was defeated by 18 points when running for re-election to the Senate. .....The guy is a motor-mouth and doesn’t understand when he should just stop talking when on the stump. ....He may have some good ideas, but he then keeps blabbing and gets away from them to talk about his personal social values.
