Scarborough: 'No One' In GOP Establishment Thinks Romney Will Beat Obama
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 04/04/2012 5:37:08 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Unemployment stubbornly over 8%. His landmark piece of legislation in dire peril of being dumped by the Supreme Court. The "flexibility" moment with Putin's pawn. Does that sound like an invincible incumbent to you?

It does to Joe Scarborough, and according to him, to every other member of the Republican establishment. On Morning Joe today, Scarborough said that while they won't admit it on TV, "no one" in the GOP establishment believes Mitt Romney will beat Barack Obama in the general election. View the video here.

I believe that the establishment Republicans of whom Joe speaks do believe that Obama's re-election is inevitable and are only interested in gaining control of the Senate--or just keeping what they have. They are defeatists at heart . . . one reason for this is their insular life-style which keeps them "inside The Beltway" so that all they hear is the Washington establishment-liberal point of view.

I suspect that Romney, or indeed any Republican candidate will handily defeat Obama and the Democrats know this--thus they have created this narrative that the DC insiders have taken hook, line, and sinker to be the inevitable truth.

If they can break the will of the Republican electorate then they know they might be able to win, but if Republicans refuse to buy the BS they're selling, the election in November won't even be close. IF nothing changes substantially between now and November, I predict a double digit margin of victory for the Republican.

Like Sarah Palin said “anyone but Obama”.

She endorsed the guy I voted against in my congressional district. (guess I'm just not a good follower)

When I hear things like this, I always think the opposite is true. While I’m not a Romney guy, I will do whatever I need to do to vote for him over the current Regime.

Same here. I was a strong Perry supporter and fought for him every step of the way, especially here. If I have to settle for Romney, so be it. At least he's an American and according to his speech last night, he will be reversing all of obama's socialist policies and moving us back to a free market system and will be a strong supporter of business. I'm willing to move on from the past if he is. According to last nights exit polls the number one issue is beating obama followed by the economy. I will not dismiss the primary voters who have been having their say.

Palin says she would pick Lt. Col./US Rep. Allen West.

Palin West 2012

Sounds like a winner

Spot on. The left is doing its very best to demoralize the right, since they know they have little to run on when it comes to Obama and his achievements.

If Romney wins the nomination and stays as scathing on Obama as he's been during the primary, we win. I'm still a Rick guy, but I'll be honest and admit I've enjoyed Romney's attacks on our Dear Leader.

What was the real circumstance of Scarborough leaving Congress as he did? Was the truth ever known?

Ok, so let me get this straight, When Scarborough says something to confirm his left leanings we all laugh and deride him for drinking the kool aid and following the orders of Liberal NBC to keep his job.

However, when he goes after Romney and says what ant Romney folks want to hear then he is the picture of legitimacy, honesty and infallibility.

Do I have that right?

The Grand Old Plantation relies on fear to chase us back to the safety of the big house. The only problem is that more and more of us choose to face the big bad world on our own terms.

At this point I’m not real concerned about those who choose to cower behind the master, they’re already lost.

Me, I’m seriously considering a run for a local office.

Well then, our incentive to go third-party this fall and make Mitt come in third has just shot up.

I’d rather go down swingin’ than have the GOP establishment take a dive.

Ha. Doesn’t matter....Obama is beating himself.

Folks, Obama is multiple times worse than Jimmy Carter. Any notion Romney, as much as he is hated by the far right (with reason, I might add), is as bad or worse than Obama is laughable.

Heck, even Sarah Palin was saying “Anyone but Obama” yesterday....I think that is where most of America is.

We will need a strong Congress to keep Romney’s liberal tendencies in check.

So the voters who got us to this point don't matter?

I despise Scarborough no matter what he says, he’s a liar and an opportunist IMO, he rode the Gingrich wave to get into Congress, since then he’s done a complete 180.

Obama is beating himself.

BINGO. It should be a cakewalk. But he does have MSDNC and most of the media on his side.

Yup. I am with you. We MUST stop O from getting another term. We MUST do everything we can to ensure conservatives get elected to the House and Senate

Besides, they’re getting richer by the day and its just us little people who have to suffer.

I was thinking along the same lines.... no one in the GOP establishment CARES if Romney will beat Obama.

They're still padding THEIR nests either way.

This is a fact. It is not going to be pretty when the term ends.

The way I see it, constitutionalists in congress are the only thing that will bring a constitutionalist to the white house.

My primary reason for voting this time will be to rid my state of Debbie Stabenow.
