Fox News & CNN are projecting Romney wins MD in their banners.
Santorum wasn't on the DC ballot.
Wisconsin polls close at 8pm CDT/9pm EDT.
Okay, you admit Romney's liberalism doesn't bother you. You don't care that he signed abortion into law, gave "marriage" licenses to sodomites, created socialized medicine, or any of it. How and why, then, do you call yourself a conservative?
I don’t believe Jefferson was a Christian, and I believe Adams’ beliefs were corrupted. However, I believe this election will stand alone, in that we have a sitting president who is either a Muslim or an atheist-—I can’t make up my mind as to which-—and a cult member competing for the nation’s highest office.
Your accusation that I “care more about outward appearance” is utter foolishness. It’s Romney’s APPEARANCE, i.e., portraying himself as a Christian, that’s deceiving gullible individuals. I’m concerned about his RECORD, which is that of a full-out liberal.
Also, likening Protestants and Catholics, both Christians, to Romney’s cult, which denies Christian doctrine, simply doesn’t wash.
Thank you, LovedSinner. It’s really awful, isn’t it? I never imagined our choices would come down to this, especially after the 2010 elections.
Thank you for your very interesting post! My feelings on him
run remarkably parallel to yours.
(Just curious, and hope you will put in a good word for me so that God will let me be saved too.)
Too bad if you don’t like my posts. I do not find Santorum to be a strong fiscal conservative. Do you really think the Santorum folks gave Newt a free pass? do you think Newt was not attacked and bashed? get in the real world! Guess you expected Santorum NOT to be vetted...too bad..so sad.
Santorum lost all by himself...he got a free pass from the Romney super pacs for a long time. It was Newt that Romney was after.
Santorum is not even in Newt’s class
They refused to understand what we were trying to say went blindly ahead out of spite anyway. Now, we will all live with the result.
So, we still have to continue on, and that does not include pouting or quitting. We have to do the very best with what we have left to work with. There is no other choice.
I did not say you were a Romneybot, did I?
We will have to see if Romney does an “Etch-a-sketch” and shifts even further to the left once he officially gets the nomination. We will also have to see who he picks for the VP spot on the ticket.
If Romney shifts far further leftwards and picks a VP who is a known liberal then I will not vote for him. If he shifts somewhat left and picks a moderate I do not know what I will do. If he does not shift leftwards and actually picks a conservative, then I will probably vote for him. Not that my vote matters, I am not in a swing state like you, but I could give money to his campaign or volunteer in a swing state as I have volunteered twice before in swing states (Iowa in 2004, Ohio in 2008).
The amount of venom directed at Santorum, Santorum supporters, and just social conservatives and Christians is astonishing on FreeRepublic.
Santorum is not shoving Bibles in people’s faces, he is just living out his own faith. And he should be able to do so. Just as people should not condemn Romney for being a Mormon (although being a liberal is a different issue), people should not condemn Santorum for being a practicing Catholic.
It is funny that Evangelicals like you are so tolerant of a practicing Catholic, and those who preach tolerance are so intolerant of Santorum. They tell people like you to get out of the 1960’s attitude, but yet they are the ones who would not vote for John F. Kennedy as a Catholic unless Kennedy minimilized his faith.
And the there is the final, and maybe most important point. One does not need to be a Christian, or even believe in God to be opposed to abortion and homosexuality. But all those for traditional values will be told by the intolerant left (many seem to be here on FreeRepublic) to stop the Bible thumping even if they have never read the Bible once in their life!
You have to see if Romney shifts further leftwards after winning the nomination and who he picks for VP. That will tell us if the Etch-a-sketch moment was actually the truth accidently slipping out or not.
Maybe Romney will surprise us and not be a bad President. I doubt it very much, but now that he is almost certainly the nominee, it is our only hope for the next four years.
By the way, I actually did have a bad dream last night after Romney won WI. I dreamed he picked a liberal for Vice President and all the establishment GOP types were preaching to us how we needed to “get behind” him. Why couldn’t I just be running from a maniac with a chainsaw like in most nightmares?
Rick’s going to be faced with a n interesting decision when it comes to the Pa. vote. Since he’s alll about his political career, and will say and do whatever necessary to preserve that, he cannot afford a “double” loss in PA. He has to be certain he has this state wrapped up.
Should he see the margin between he and Romney isn’t looking good for him....he may just bow out to protect his political career. I can see him doing this if push comes to shove.
LF, if Republicans understood how grave the crisis is that you present, Mitt’s vote totals would merit an asterisk. Bob
As a resident of Massachusetts, I can tell you that I was not impressed with Romney at all when he was governor and look what he left us with - a flawed health care plan and Patrick Deval (Obama-lite).
..but go back and read your posts...
I'm not alone in noting how angry and bitter they sound.
Your angst against Santorum almost seems personal.
The Santorums pray for those who malign and hate them....
I will too.
I admit your posts are very upsetting to me.....your words hurt.
But I don't wish anything bad for you.....just that you will find peace.
No, not you. I’ve seen some people jump on others for insinuating they’re not conservative because they’d rather vote Romney than Obama.
Personally, I’d rather lick a skunk than do either, but one four year Romney term isn’t half as bad as what Obama would be without fear of re-election!
I am sorry, KevinDavis- but a mormon will not get elected president. Neither would a muslim, nor a buddhist, nor an aethist. Because in the end, we are a christian nation, with a christian people- and we won’t be electing people whom cannot turn to God in the hours of crisis.
Freedom of Religion is for the government, not the people, to be blind to a person’s religion. There is nothing in the constitution that requires that I turn a blind eye to my faith and vote for someone despite their religion.
It would seem to me that the republican party is making a mistake turning a blind eye to the fact that Romney can’t win primaries in the traditional republican states.
Thank you for that wonderful, eye popping post. I wasn’t predisposed to vote for Romney - but your point was made elegantly without sacrificing the sledgehammer like impact.
We ARE responsible to God for our actions, including our votes.
