I don't know what it means, but this strikes me as odd. From an interview with the parents of slain teenager Trayvon Martin by the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA):
Martin, Trayvons mother, Sybrina Fulton; Benjamin Crump, the family lawyer; Al Sharpton and former New York Gov. David Patterson participated in an exclusive 1-hour telephone conference call last Thursday with more than three dozen publishers from the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA).
Martin told publishers how he learned that his son had been killed.
I had been out to dinner. When we got back between 10:15 and 10:45, he wasnt at home. The night before, he had been to the movies with my nephew, who had recently moved up to the Orlando area from Miami. Every time Trayvon would come up here, they would find something to do, usually they would go to dinner. My nephew is 20 years old, a very responsible young man. So there was not panic at that moment that he was not home. I made several attempts to call his cell phone and it was going straight to voicemail. I called my nephews cell phone and it was going straight to voicemail. So at that point, I figured they had been in the movies because they would always go to the movies.
Tracy Martin and his girlfriend went to bed. But the next morning, the day Martin and his son had planned to return to Miami, he learned that Trayvon still wasnt back in the house. Tracy called his nephew again, this time reaching him and learning that Trayvon wasnt with him.
Today, CNN published comments from a Martin family attorney that seems to conflict with the account proffered by Tracy Martin:
During the 10-day suspension, Tracy Martin took his son with him to Sanford, about four hours away from Miami, while he visited his fiancée because neither he nor Fulton wanted their son to stay in his hometown where he could enjoy his friends, said Horton, who has been in close contact with Martin's father.
"He wasn't just suspended from school and up at Sanford kicking it and having a good time," said Horton. Martin had only been to Sanford a handful of times.
His fateful walk to the convenience store for a bag of Skittles and an iced tea on the evening of February 26 happened only because the teenager pleaded to leave the apartment, said Horton.
"The only reason he got a chance to go to the store is because he begged his dad to go," he said. At the time, his father and his fiancée had gone out to dinner and to watch a basketball game, leaving Martin at the townhouse, according to Martin family spokesman Ryan Julison.
While walking to the store, Martin was on the phone with his girlfriend, whom he had been talking to for over 6½ hours throughout the day, the family's attorney said, citing phone records. The girl, who did not want to be identified, said she told Martin to run, but he refused, the family attorney said.
What strikes me is the father made no mention of his son begging him to be allowed to go to the store in his interview with the NPAA. That would be crushing to a parent, if true. They would be guilt-ridden, thinking if only they had said no, he wouldn't have been out.
Instead, Tracy Martin says he was not very concerned about the whereabouts of his son until the next morning.
It strikes me as odd.
Perhaps the 20 yr. old is mentally handicapped.
They've been lying throughout. I bet there aren't any phone records to back up this assertion. The guy claimed he had a recorded conversation. Then it turns out the conversation was one between the girlfriend recounting what she recalled and the "family" lawyer.
Another story says the boy (or dad) had fixed supper before he went to store.
IOW dad and gf were out partying somewhere they did not or could not take Tray with them. (sports bar have areas youth can go to around here)
Boy rejected again.
The mother was saying the yelling on the 911 tape was her son but it was the caller's little kid, Jeremy (?). The call came after the shooting which would be after Trayvon was already dead.
I'm sorry for them losing a son but they're doing him more harm than good. Their lies and accusations are proving that he grew up in an environment that condoned such behavior.
I wonder how far the girlfriend’s townhouse is from the area of the shooting - if they would have had to drive where they would have seen lights and police activity - or if that was over by the time they got back.
Did they not hear anything about a shooting from neighbors before they began to make calls and try to find Treyvon? The little brother was left home supposedly, and heard no shots or sirens that he would mention to the adults?
Another story was that he went to the store during half time when the game hadn't even started yet.
If he'd been drinking "Two if by Tea" this would never have happened...
Trying to get this straight.
Father wanted his son to stay in, but son begged to go to the store.
Father gave in to that pleading, but later claims that he wasn’t too concerned that Trayvon wasn’t back, because he figured he would be with the 20 yr old relative at the movies, because they would go to the movies whenever T was in Sanford.
Even after neither could be reached on their cell phones, Father figured their cell phones were off, in the movies.
Next morning he finally reaches the 20 yr old who informs him he hasn’t been with Trayvon, period.
But this all started with a simple trip to the store for which he had to beg permission?
What was assumed would happen after he got to the store?? In context you assume he would return back to the apt.
But it seems if the 20 yr old relative was involved...which he wasn’t...all bets were off, anything goes.
That sounds very strange.
Even if the truth, sounds like Trayvon was palmed off on a 20 yr old relative and his whereabouts not a concern to dad as long as dad could tell himself Trayvon must be with the relative.
The conflict is, the dad was so very concerned about Trayvon, the kid had to beg to leave for a brief trip to the store.
But after that, so what??? The 20 yr old will take care of everything!!
It read that as he wasn't worried at all that he was gone all night, and that it was something normal for him to have been arrested.
Must be that happened alot.
The father wasn’t physically present.
He was in another location with his girl friend.
The phone records were verified. She was cut off just minutes before the first 911 calls came in.
She says conversation stopped when scuffle started.
But she did report the verbal confrontation stating TM initiated.
There’s a paved walk between the backyards - Zimmerman called it a cut-through. If Martin had visited a few times previously he would have known it.
If he really was an innocent boy unnerved by a man following him in a truck, it would make a LOT of sense to leave the road and take to the shortcut.
The aerial map of the neighborhood is available, you can google it.
Police were on scene until three AM IIRC
Map of facility with important areas marked was posted earlier today. Only a few threads on this so it shouldn’t be too hard to find.
I heard a rumor that they did not start looking in earnest for TrayVon, the No_Limit_Ne&&a, for 48 hours after he reached room temperature.
“Where did the Skittle and AZ Tea story come from? Did anyone see the two items? Both are street names for drugs.”
I heard someone say that on a talk radio show. Have no idea how to verify something like that. Interesting though.
GZ’s truck was parked between pool in upper left corner and “A” on street. Closer to “A”.
Girl friend house was at the bottom right to the right of the sidewalk that runs between the condos. “A” is at the top left of sidewalk.
By the lawyer or the authorities? I know the lawyer claimed all kinds of things. Have the police confirmed that his statements are factual? He said that he had a recording of the conversation between Martin and the girlfriend. This has turned out to be false.
Go to google and type in drug street name for: each
You’ll get there.
