Get that totally unnecessary chyron out of there, ABC News!
Why is your "ABC NEWS EXCLUSIVE" chyron covering up the back of George Zimmerman's head in the police surveillance video of him arriving at the police station soon after Trayvon Martin was killed in Sanford, Florida? There is a big controversy out there as to whether Zimmerman actually did suffer certain injuries including a bruise to the back of his head during the fight with Martin. You would think ABC news would allow an unobstructed view of the back of Zimmerman's head. Instead the head was covered for much of the time by a completely redundant chyron since there was already an unobtrusive ABC News label in the lower right of the screen.
A suspicious mind might even think that ABC News was trying to cover something up with that annoying chyron. And one such person is Bob Owens, a Pajamas Media contributor, who makes just such an accusation in his personal blog:

Zimmerman was TREATED for injuries. The EMT’s who treated him made a record of the injuries.
Why doesn’t ABC News interview the emergency medical techs? ( Maybe the same reason they couldn’t find Chicago on a map to vet Obama - but could find Wasilla Alaska to vet Palin?)

Thank you for the encouragement. I’m thinking about it, but something seems to be missing. Not so much with the facts of the Martin/Zimmerman confrontations and immediate aftermath.
I just read a Coach is Right thread that touches upon some of it. Mostly about over-reaching on the part of the Dem’s and various activist groups.

I’m thinking and pondering this... What I think I am looking for is now a media blackout without explanations or apologies to Mr. Zimmerman. If that occurs then I am going to go with Collusion between the various parties pushing the Racial Hatred Meme and maybe even a case for RICO.
But in any case what I see here in general is the attempted lighting of the fuse that blows up the tensions, both racial and economic, that exist across America now. And I believe but can’t prove that the MSM/DBM desperately desires that to occur.
I felt similar tensions back in the 1970’s When I had to work in various Big Cities both East and West Coast as well as heartland. And then a funny thing happened, the media back then stopped pushing it and concentrated on the Iran-Hostage crisis. Once that occurred the tensions relaxed in an amazingly quick time. Just a thought to be examined deeper at another time.
On a side note, I never knew they were called “chyrons”. I just thought they were called “logos”.

Ok, what I am thinking of by a media blackout is when the story being told suddenly becomes apparent that it is either too complicated or too filled with contradictions. Kristinn just posted this and you can see some of this starting to surface.

Now I have seen this before and I imagine you have too. So when the story starts to fall apart because of ever increasing inconsistencies the people pushing it are just going to stop. No apologies will be given just a general statement about letting the legal system do it’s job. At that point it will only be revisited if the legal system comes up with a verdict/judgement that enhances their position.
The hope for the Media is that there will be a TON of new incidents happening as the inflamed portion of the populace they have targeted and then the media can use those to ratchet the tensions higher until they get what they desire.
If someone can show me a chiron (or whatever it is) being place SO HIGH up on the screen in another case, I might believe it wasn’t intentional...but I have NEVER seen one so close to mid-screen before.
I doubt it was a mistake. It was there to cover up details they didn’t want people to see.
When I first saw that video, I thought it was odd they would put that right in the middle of the video.
