That tale concerning Rush Limbaugh an urban myth.

The story has a shred of truth, but not the way liberals have been recalling it for the past 20 years.

“The story has a shred of truth, but not the way liberals have been recalling it for the past 20 years”

Exactly. I was a regular watcher of Rush’s tv show and recall the very real incident you have cited. I wish I had a nickel for every liberal who lies through their teeth claiming they saw the phony version of events with their own eyes. They obviously see the phony version of events somewhere on the internet, assume it is true, and then make up a story of how they witnessed it themselves. I’ll give one of many examples:

Just a little thought for this Limbaugh v Chelsea Clinton thread. I was on leave in NYC and attended the actual taping of the show in question, I was the middle of the three sailors in uniform that Rush pointed out and put us on camera a time or six. Ok, the “White House Dog” thing actually happened. The photo of Sox was on the screen, then Rush announced the ‘White House Dog’, and never looked at the picture projected behind him. He just sat there waggling his eyebrows at the camera in his (then) patented ‘ain’t I a hoot’ way. Why would he do this for a picture of a dog? As far as the ‘production mistake’ and not enough time to fix it thing. The Limbaugh show taped before a live audience was 90 minutes long, edited in post production to the 30 minutes uploaded to the feed THE NEXT DAY.

This claim is from post number 50 right here:

Problem with this guys version of events is that Rush NEVER taped his show 90 minutes long, then edited down to 30. The studio audience were asked to show up to the studio a half hour before taping, the actual taping would take place only 30 minutes, not 90. And the show was uploaded to feed immediately following the taping. Not the next day. This lying liberal thought that by giving little details about the show that an audience member knows, would cement his claims. But instead, those little details he added only exposed him for the liar he is.

Thank you for posting thatlink. I had always assumed that the liberal account of the incident—that Rush said there was a White House cat, and also a White House dog, and put up a picture of Chelsea for the latter—was correct, and considered the supposed joke to be outrageous and indefensible, but the real story is that no such joke was told, and the only mix-up was that when Rush said in November 1992 that with Clinton’s election a cute dog would move out of the White House and a cute kid would move in that they mistakenly put up the picture of (the then largely unknown) Chelsea instead of the picture of Millie the Bush’s dog. I have no one to blame but myself for having taken the media’s account at face value instead of digging for the truth.
