Rubio endorses Romney, saying he's 'earned' it

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., endorsed Mitt Romney for president Wednesday night on Fox News' "Hannity," saying Romney offers "a very clear alternative" to President Obama's vision for the future of the country.

Rubio, a young, first-termer who has been discussed as a possible vice presidential candidate, criticized talk of a fight for the Republican nomination on the convention floor, a possibility that is keeping alive the campaigns of Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich.

"I think that's a recipe for delivering four more years of Barack Obama," Rubio told Fox News' Sean Hannity.

Romney has "earned this nomination," Rubio said, though he again shot down questions about whether he would accept any offers of a spot on the ticket.

Here’s HOPING for a miracle at the convention. How can anyone throw Newt under the train? very discouraging. Obama should have been so EASY to beat but it looks like Romney will be the nominee.

Have fought long and hard for Newt. I KNOW he is the best candidate running for president since Reagan. What is wrong with the gop? Short of a miracle ..the handwriting is on the wall and Mitt will be the nominee. Obama is loving this...it has been the election from hell.

I am with the Speaker to the end We can blame the gop establishment and money but a larger portion of the blame lies with the uninformed voters

That’s a record the Republican primary voters care about. If he’s the nominee, he’s overcome that record. It won’t be a problem with independents in the general and Republicans will have to decide whether 4 more of Obama is worse than Romney.

There are enough of us conservatives who are not "Party over principle" types who cannot vote for such an awful candidate like Mitt Romney that he cannot win.

Couple that with the possible millions who will learn of Romney's real record that will feel they have been lied to by Romney and you have the beginnings of a real rout.

Once Obama and friends in the media start pounding on the hypocrasy and the fact that Romney is the "Father of Gay Marriage in America" and the rest of Romney's left-wing, Progressive Liberal record, it's over.

Romney loses in a landslide.

Furthermore, since Romney and Obama are essentially tied right now in the polls, what do you is going to happen once all hell is loosed against him using his own record?

Lastly, you really don't know the American electorate, do you?!

Those independents that you think won't care about these issues, well, a large minority of them are dissaffected conservative former republicans who left their party because they felt it was not representing them anymore.

Those issues do matter to them, and Romney ain't getting their votes.

Romney, with his progressive record, will need every vote he can get to win against Obama.

He won't get enough!

Typical backstabbing Cuban politician. I’ve lived in Miami for 30 years and he’s acting just as I expected he would. How much longer are you going to take guys like this patronizing the Tea Party and Conservatives? And we’re just supposed to shut up get in line and vote for Romeny. Romney will be so destroyed by Obama by election day that it’s not even going to be a contest.

In an exclusive interview with The Daily Caller, Sen. Rubio revealed that President Obama’s recent “open mic” gaffe with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev sparked his endorsement of Mitt Romney for president Wednesday night.

“It’s been weighing on my mind all week,” he said.

“I’ve never thought about this as a political calculation,” Rubio said of his endorsement. “I’m just sitting back here and watching a president that just got back from overseas — where he told the Russian president to work with him and give him space so he can be more flexible if he gets re-elected.”

“The stakes are so high. We’re not running against John F. Kennedy here,” he said.

“We have to win this election in November. We have to!” he averred. “If we don’t win this election in November — and we get four more years of Barack Obama — I don’t know what that means … But I know it ain’t good.”

He’s a practicing Catholic but also attends sermons in a Southern Baptist affiliated church.

Is he too young to realize that a few fleeting moments of media warmth may cost him a career?

Nope, he's cynical enough to realize that this is how the game is played ... and he wants to play.

The majority of sheeple won't be looking away from American Idol long enough to realize anything has changed.

The family left the Mormon church by the time Rubio was 12, according to Rubio’s office, and he received First Communion in the Catholic Church a year later. After returning to Miami, Rubio was confirmed, and he was married in the church.

But as he got older, Rubio started to attend Christ Fellowship in Miami, a church affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. Though he had substantial debt, due to mortgages and student loans, Rubio gave about $50,000 to the church over a period of years last decade. He also gave to the Catholic Church, his office said.

“The Republican Party is dead as a doornail. The sooner conservatives admit it the sooner we can get about the serious business of restoring this free republic.”

Very true. I say all true conservatives - both politicans and rank and file - move in unison to the Constitution Party. They will soon become a force to be rekoned with.

n January 23, 2013, start planning a genuine conservative primary challenge to incumbent romney

Exactly what I’m thinking. IF Romney gets in we start immediately slamming him every chance we get and looking for a real conservative to challenge him.

That would get me really excited about this election. A dream ticket. I don’t think Sarah is interested right now. I think the abuse she and her family have taken has taken a toll on her. Maybe in 2016.
