My Gawd man, snap out of it... Newt-mania died back in... wait a minute, there was never a period of time when there actually was Newt-mania was there? Yah, Newt saves the world... uh-hu...
I love ribbing Newties... they get so, indignant...
Actually, there was a brief period when Newt was the front-runner in the national polls with 32 percent of respondents choosing him as their first choice and Romney getting something like 20 percent.
But that was just before Florida, and the two pre-Florida debates which Newt fumbled, staring into the camera like a deer into headlights while Mitt pummeled him with charges of “influence peddling”, charges which stuck Newt not so much with a “guilty” tag as a tag labeling him “no longer the debate king”, which killed him. Which killed him dead.
I cried (metaphorically) in the days the Newtster died... but die he did. And there’s no bringing him back.
For better or worse we’re stuck with Rick as the anti-Romney, and Rick is who I’ll be voting for when this circus campaign comes to NJ.
