Santorum Suggests Obama Preferable to "Etch-A-Sketch" Romney.

Rick Santorum's latest attempt to use a Mitt Romney aide's "Etch-A-Sketch" remark against the Republican front-runner instead gave his rival a chance to fire back on Thursday, after Santorum seemed to say he'd rather see President Obama reelected than send Romney to the White House.

Speaking at an event in Texas, Santorum again made the case that Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom's comments Wednesday on CNN about a "reset" of the campaign if Romney clinched the nomination showed the former Massachusetts governor's efforts to appeal to conservatives were insincere.

"You win by giving people the opportunity to see a different vision for our country, not someone who's just going to be a little different than the person in there," Santorum told a crowd in San Antonio, according to NBC News. "If you're going to be a little different, we might as well stay with what we have instead of taking a risk with what may be the Etch-A-Sketch candidate of the future."

So, how do you explain DeMint almost endorsing him? Do the jaws of the establishment reach that far? I mean, I used to believe DeMint was one of the good guys, and after 1 meeting with Willard, he’s “excited” at the prospect of him being the nominee, and thinks Santorum and Newt should drop out... is the GOP establishment that powerful? Really, is it?

that’s why the prospect of Newt taking this to the convention so enlivens so many, a chance to call out the GOP on their own turf... and mess up their choreographed coronation, even if it comes to nothing... It will be a first.
>>

************************************************************

According to Heritage Foundation’s Action Scorecard, Jim DeMint receives a 99% rating for his record of conservative legislation, which is the highest score of anyone in the Senate. So I still consider him to be one of the good guys.

I think what’s happening is the GOP establishment leaders took DeMint aside and begged him “for the sake of party solidarity” to help rally conservatives behind Romney by claiming that: 1) the GOP has already poured a tremendous amount of financial resources and legwork into grooming Romney for the presidency; 2) Many high-ranking party officials have put their collective reputations on the line by publicly endorsing him; and 3) Romney is the clear frontrunner who has built up a nearly insurmountable delegate lead and none of the other candidates can overcome. It’s entirely possible DeMint shares their worry about how this prolonged primary season may be damaging the candidates and fracturing the party. (I don’t prescribe to this mindset, by the way.) And, who knows, maybe DeMint genuinely DOES think highly of Romney.

All I can say is, if Romney does get the nomination and then goes on to lose to Obama, I truly think the Republican party as we know it will be finished because its conservative base will be IRATE AS HELL and will either: 1) turn its focus on pushing for a complete overthrow of the party establishment, or 2) abandon and form a new party altogether. (I would personally support the first option if, God forbid, it ever comes down to this.)

Aside from the MittRick debate... Etch-a-Sketch???

Must we keep using stereotypical "grandpa" cultural references that people under 40 have never even heard of?

Between barbs like this and the "I Love Lucy" chocolate Episode reference, is there anything else our guys can do to seem even more out of touch with the 21st century?

ACtually, there is a show on my Christian Station called I Love Lucy, about 2 couples living in NYC, which I watch sometimes, but it never occurred to me that romney was referring to this, not in a presidential campaign anyway, but now I think he probably was... it was the "chocolate episode" reference that was confusing. But I am about 100% he was talking about the I Love Lucy show. It is from the 50's so is probably why a lot of younger people haven't heard of it.

I agree that honesty is great, but that there’s no law says Santorum has to answer every question anyone asks him.

Not in the Presidential powers, and I have a hard time thinking currently the jelly-fish GOPe would even bring it up. They have yet to hold up to their own ‘rules’...72 hr. review, pointing to the authorization for any legislation, etc.

So, no thanks. I’m finished hoping/wishing while they pick my pockets and try to shackle us with financial chains. A pox on ‘em all.

You know something about business.
Would you put your own money into a development of a manned moon colony because Newt said it’s a national security (????) issue?
With the price of gas skyrocketing you think the moon will become a tourist trap to return your investment?

i can only imagine the hurdles to overcome by anyone attempting to break into orbit, from this country, in the future...if ya think the *tribute* to get a pipeline was affordable, i got a bridge to the moon to sell ya

big gov *owns* space travel that originates from the US...

any investors lookin to cash in on the green cheese need to be sweet talkin the chinese or russian mafias...

I will repost my links, which do not even mention Newt Gingrich, and, were you truly interested in understanding or researching the subject, there are many technical and foreign policy articles on the subject of moon colonies, none of which have to do with tourism, okay? I don't mean to deprive you of your oxygen of misstatements, unfounded truth, and downright falsehoods, but facts are facts, even the inconvenient ones.

That's all for now. I only spend so much time in discussion with santorum supporters, too stubborn, too sanctimonious, too stupid, too blind. I hope you understand.

"Russia is talking with the US and Europe on plans to create a manned research base on the moon, the head of the Russian space agency Roscosmos said Thursday. Roscosmos is discussing the possibilities for a permanent moon base with officials from NASA and the European Space Agency, the agency's chief, Vladimir Popovkin said.

"We don't want man to just step on the moon," Popovkin told Vesti FM radio station, according to the Ria Novosti news agency. "Today, we know enough about it, we know that there is water in its polar areas ... we are now discussing how to begin [the moon's] exploration with NASA and the European Space Agency."

He said the plan was either to set up a base on the moon or launch a station to orbit around it. Russia also is planning to send two unmanned mission to the moon by 2020, Popovkin said."

RE :”Popovkin said: Chinese moon base 2002

Maybe China should get a second man in orbit before they take over the Moon. Oh, did Newt forgot to tell you that little problem?

Chinese has an advantage over us there, they didn't have a Newt to sell them on ethanol. They buy up oil wells instead of fairy tail solutions. They have $$$.

But yes, Newt says it won't cost taxpayers a penny to go to the Moon and build a manned base when we can't put a man in orbit. He is SO smarter than everyone else he will make it happen.

It's not actually a 'law'; but it DEFINITELY is a MORMON teaching!!!

Actually, NONE of the ‘money’ will be left on the Moon at all; just a bunch of metal and stuff.

All the MONEY will be used right here on Earth.

Think of it as a High-Tech WPA project.

At least these folks would be DOING something; other than to continue to VOTE for whomever says they’ll provide them with food and shelter from YOUR wallet, with NOTHING in return.

> The stupidity of your statement is breathtaking.

Is it? Here's the reasoning. Can you refute it?

Why I am NEVER voting for Romney, even if he is the GOP nominee (shudder)

Many people, online and in-person, have started to shrug and say, "Oh well. Looks like Romney's gonna get the Republican nomination. I'll have to hold my nose and vote for him, like I voted for McCain.and all the other RINOs the GOP have shoved at us. After all, if he's only 80-90% like Obama then he's at least a little better than him, right?"

WRONG. and here’s why.

If Myth does 90% of what Zer0 does, he will do it WITH AN R NEXT TO HIS NAME.

What does this do? Well, Republicans in Congress who would otherwise balk at lib legislation if it were proposed by Zer0 WILL SIGN ON TO THE LEGISLATION BECAUSE IT IS PROPOSED BY THE LEADER OF THE GOP.

Imagine: amnesty, “tax fairness”, gutting the military and so much more ALL SAILING THROUGH CONGRESS because a “Republican” is at the helm of America. Contrast this with a second Obozo presidency where the GOP will dig in their heels and at least try to fight.

Yeah, I said it. An Obummer presidency is better for America than a Myth presidency (in the way that a cowpie sandwich is better than a meal of broken glass).

This is why we have to have a NOT-ROMNEY at the top of the ticket if we are to have any hope of digging America out of this hole we’re in. And if we don't, God help us... but I still WON'T vote for him. I'll vote for whichever acceptable, conservative 3rd party candidate is running (so my protest vote will have the most impact), or I'll write one in.

As JimRob says. Romneycare = Obamacare = Commiecare. NO ROMNEY, NO WAY!!

You’re voting for a Democrat in Republican clothing and you have the audacity to say WE are liberals?

It would be really funny if you weren’t so pathetic.

In short, if you vote for Romney, you are not a Conservative, you are just a pasty for the Democrats.

BTW, I noticed you failed to respond to my comment regarding your attack on Colofornian. Again, pathetic. You are the reason people think the GOP is the stupid party.

Santorum has said some stupid things. I actually prefer Newt, but like Santorum’s views in general.

That doesn’t change that Romney is a stupid spoiled brat who will say anything to get elected. He is also a lying scumbag.

I will NEVER EVER vote for Romney. I can’t do it, my faith and my conservative principles will not let me.
