Rick Santorum's latest attempt to use a Mitt Romney aide's "Etch-A-Sketch" remark against the Republican front-runner instead gave his rival a chance to fire back on Thursday, after Santorum seemed to say he'd rather see President Obama reelected than send Romney to the White House.
Speaking at an event in Texas, Santorum again made the case that Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom's comments Wednesday on CNN about a "reset" of the campaign if Romney clinched the nomination showed the former Massachusetts governor's efforts to appeal to conservatives were insincere.
"You win by giving people the opportunity to see a different vision for our country, not someone who's just going to be a little different than the person in there," Santorum told a crowd in San Antonio, according to NBC News. "If you're going to be a little different, we might as well stay with what we have instead of taking a risk with what may be the Etch-A-Sketch candidate of the future."

Both Romney & Obama are anti-gun, pro-homosexual, liberal judge appointing, global warming pushing, agenda-21 loving, socialized medicine, Marxist implementing socialists.
However, if Obama is in office GOP will stand with people like me to fight their agenda, while if Romney is in office GOP will fight against people like me trying to stop the agenda.
Sanatorium is right.
I’m not rick. I’m a newt supporter.
The scary thing is we’re not looking at 4 years of mittens but 8. So we need to start working now to put a challenger in place.
How would you limit Rommney?
Thru the boneheads in Congress. By getting the right people in Cabinet. By getting the right advisors hired. Lots of ways.
I wont stay home either, but I may vomit. We’re in trouble and the conservatives (aka tea party) needs to stand up and figure out how to take the establishment out of power.
Give me a break. How many people on this board have said there isn’t a dime’s worth of difference between the two. Perhaps the only difference if Romney was elected is that the Republicans in Congress wouldn’t even attempt to oppose the Romney / Obama Agenda. Name one area where we would better off to any significant degree under Romney. The train to Hell might actually slow down by a mile an hour, if Obama stays in power, since a GOP House and Senate might oppose his agenda whereas they would roll over for a liberal from their own party.
If it’s over, you can thank Newt for draining just enough votes to give Romney victories in states like Michigan and Ohio. However, a comment that Romney is no different than Obama just echos what’s been posted on this board for years.
Agreed. Also, maybe, just maybe, the GOPE (rhymes with DOPE) will realize that the way to win elections is to promote a true Conservative and not a “middle of the road guy” or a “bit to the right of Obama” guy.
Screw Romney, and FUBO.
Newt’s endorsement of a radial liberal (actually co-endorsement with ACORN) doesn’t cause you to loose any respect, but Santorum pointing out the fact that there is no real difference between Obama and Romney causes you to loose “all respect” You remind me of those seminar callers on Rush. “I’ve always voted Republican, but now....” Nobody buys it, Santorum took out your guy Newt and any chance to pile on, you’re gonna take it, even if it gives us Romney.
Freepers aren't running for president and their words won't be used in an Obama ad for reelection. Santorum's an idiot and should be run out of the Republican party.
Both Romney and Obama will destroy what little there is left of this nation.
Romney, possibly, could be the more damaging. Obama has full resistance and with have more resistance in the house and senate. Romney would have a lot of cooperation to get his liberal policies implemented.
Oh, I see. You’re supporting Romney, now.
Considering Obama has resistance in the house and senate and Romney would have cooperation - Santorum just may be correct.
One thing about Obama, he did warn America, right up front, that he plannned a fundamental change to America - Americans are too ignorant to understand that when a marxist says something like that, it’s not a good change.
Now, marxist Romney has America duped, too, but see he is even less truthful and honest than Obama.
Both Obama and Romney intend on forcing America under a single worldwide financial system - there is no real difference between the two.
Both Obama and Romney intend on ignoring the Constitution.
Avote for Romey or a vote for Obama - no real difference in the vote, but the outcome of Romney getting the election, possibly, could be more devastating than Obama.
Then you haven't been paying attention to Obama.
Please, stop trying so hard to sound clever and spend some time actually thinking.
Moreover, even some of the fiscal conservative votes, such as the constitutional amendment on the balanced budget, show a penchant for using a process to make decisions rather than the courage to make decisions - I'm not all that keen on a balanced budget amendment, I see it as a poor substitute for fiscal discipline, akin to the idiotic "zero tolerance" policies school administrators use to avoid taking the circumstances of any situation into account.
Why so? As far as I can make out, he is saying that Mitt Romney is so similar to Obama that there is little to choose between them. If that is the case, electing Mitt would be even worse than retaining Obama, as the Republican party will get all of the blame when the whole facade collapses (as it inevitably will). If you are going to have a change of direction in the Whitehouse, lets make it an actual change rather than the same policies dressed up a bit differently.
It appears that Sqantorum has access to Indianapolis' own Gary Varvel!!
Romney hasn’t changed from the very candidate that Santorum endorsed. What does that tell us about Santorum?
We Hoosiers think so, too!
Only because they are more interesting in his piety.
ROMNEY 'believes' that JS was a Prophet of GOD. What does that tell us about ROMNEY?
...the presidential campaign of Mormon Church founder Joseph Smith in 1844: Challenging Democrat James Polk and Whig Henry Clay, Smith prophesied that if the U.S. Congress did not accede to his demands that they shall be broken up as a government and God shall damn them.
Smith viewed capturing the presidency as part of the mission of the church.
