CBS/AP) SANFORD, Fla. - The authors of Florida's controversial "stand your ground" self-defense law say George Zimmerman should probably be arrested for shooting Trayvon Martin, reports the Miami Herald.

"He has no protection under my law," former Sen. Durell Peaden told the newspaper.
Florida's law, called "stand your ground" by supporters and "shoot first" by critics, was passed in 2005 and permits residents to use deadly force if they "reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony."

I believe that the scum who murdered the son of Melissa Coon were arrested. Zimmerman hasn’t been.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the law. The only question is What actually happened?
Absolutely. Nothing about this case should call the law itself into question.
What I fear is that the media circus and the summoning of the Great Gods of PC will make it difficult for the truth to come out in this case.

It's a given that opportunists will use anything to promote their particular agendas. It has always been this way.
But it was the Sanford police that were making it difficult for the truth to come out about this case, from the very first hour. Now people are characterizing as political correctness the desire to know what else was covered up and why proper procedures were not followed.

You are right. Zimmerman was not arrested and won’t be because they have no case against him at all. They would have to prove that he lied and that the suspicious perp in the hoodie did not attack him. They can’t prove it so they have nothing on him. Case closed.

I think you have summed this up very briefly and very accurately, based on what is known thus far. There is simply no evidence to refute Zimmerman's contention that it was self defense. In the eyes of the law, that is. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty, and they have nothing to work with, to proffer a case for homicide.
But there will be those here and elsewhere, that would like to somehow have him arrested, charged, and convicted, because they "think" he is guilty of murder.

That was then. This is now. The guy is in trouble not because of what he did, but, who he did it to.
