Maybe black people overall have a different view of government from white people do.

Maybe black people believe in the central government more because of their experience in the South in the 1960s when the federal government ended 100 years of Jim Crow law.

There also is the identification of slavery with capitalism. Overall, white people would reject that notion. But I can see that if I were black and a descendant of slaves, I might connect the two.

Maybe black people [sic] are gay, abortionist, atheist, evolutionist, Maoist intellectuals who claim Voltaire, Comte, and Darwin got all their ideas from Africa. [/sarc]

Keep raising the price, and we’ll all be “confined” to no travel...

which, I believe, is the point.

Difficult to prove, one way or another. Only the totally hate filled and/or terminally stupid would ever admit to it. 95% support amongst the Black electorate is very suspicious though.

That’s why Obama won’t release his birth certificate; white mother, white father.

Yep! ONLY is the operative word.

My brother’s girlfriend is from Holland and at dinner a few weeks ago we were talking about culture, race and demographics etc. in the USA. When I asked her what she thought the percentage of the population blacks were, she said, ‘30 or 40%, right?’ When I told her the real figure, she replied, ‘but they are all over tv and the radio, it must be higher than only 12%.’

My conclusion: Stupid white people are to blame for this erroneous perception. Glomming on to all that is ‘black’ or ‘hip hop’ has caused this country’s downward spiral more than any other ill. If not, blacks would either ‘act white’ and be successful like Asians....or be forgetable, in the background, boosting crime rates, but not much else.

Of course you realize that those Republicans were viewed as the liberals of that day and Southern Democrats such as Bull Conner and George Wallace were/are viewed as conservatives. Benjamin Franklin would be viewed as liberal for his time as well as Lincoln. So basically, it is a history of the relationship between blacks and conservatives as opposed to blacks and Democrats/Republicans that defines the perception.

Liberals and Washington, DC came to the “rescue” during slavery and Jim Crow and this has proved stronger than the fact that liberal ideology contradicted the socially conservative ideology of blacks throughout most of history. This is reinforced by the fact that members of the Klan and other anti-black organizations are almost totally more likely to vote Republican than Democrat despite mainstream Republicans not supporting such groups.

And lastly, the perception is reinforced when certain comments are popular with conservatives such as calling blacks the most racist group, unable to take care of themselves, genetically less intelligent, etc. These can unfortunately make the most open minded black person feel unwelcome.

Ask an African what he or she thinks of American blacks. You may be astonished.

Ask any non American black about black Americans and it probably will be the same thing.

Not if Obama issues ‘fuel vouchers’ to all food stamp recipients in the system...

Not the sole reason. Herman Cain would probably not have gotten not much more than 10% even if he ran against someone like Clinton. If Clarence Thomas ran for office, he would probably get less than that.

Not so sure considering the “black vote” is a wholly subsidiary of the democrat party.

Unfortunately, 99% vote for him because he looks like them.

Numbers approximate:

If 90% of blacks vote Democrat, but 95% vote for a black Democrat, then only 5% are voting for him primarily because he is black.

Am I missing something obvious?

Cause I hate that.

With the Latino population nearing 20% or more, we may see a huge change in the ‘culture’ of American TV and entertainment rather soon.................

It can’t be only because Obama is part black. If Obama was a conservative and a Republican you would not see Samuel Jackson etc. saying the things they have been saying. Let’s not forget all the horrible names and attacks on some awesome blacks by the left.... good men like Clarence Thomas, Allen West etc.

The fact that blacks vote Democrat would seem to mean that skin color means nothing.

But the exteme loyalty and participation that created a higher black turnout in 2008 certainly speaks to race-based voting.

That, at least, is my opinion.
