A notice about the study in the Federal Register this week explained that improved screening for HIV, Hepatitis B and Syphilis could still keep the blood supply safe.
So they let them donate blood so they will FEEL better and not FEEL discriminated against I'm sure that will be of great comfort to regrettable-but-necessary recipients of false-negatively tested products.

My daughter donates blood a lot and she has a friend who is gay and unable to donate. She was telling me how upset he was because he was unable to donate and I tried to explain it to her but she went on and on how unfair he felt it was
and I told her he needed to get a grip. I really do not get why he was so upset unless he felt bad about himself and excluded somehow I have no idea and I found it odd.
