The Department of Health and Human Services said it plans to study alternatives to the 1983 ban on blood and plasma donations by men who have sex with other men.

Since the government is on a "roll" in connection with gay marriage and gay rights, they are again putting forth policies that increase risk to the mental and physical health and safety of the people.

There was a time when government advanced the health and safety of the public they had sworn to protect. But not anymore. If gays enjoy a shorter life span and more diseases, it is only "fair" for all to share in that misery in the name of equality for all and constitutional rights!

Is not this warped and twisted thinking pandemic?

‎"A notice about the study in the Federal Register this week explained that improved screening for HIV, Hepatitis B and Syphilis COULD still keep the blood supply safe." As long as their self esteem is improved, it's all good. Liberalism is a mental disorder. This is NOT our fathers' Democrat Party.

And if they had enforced the ban in ‘86, rather than selling tainted blood overseas, we would still have our eldest daughter.

Sorry. I know we Christians are supposed to forgive. That, I can not.

Obama must have weak polling among the gay community for this to be considered.

I’m sorry to say this, but the country is sliding into hell. You’ve got to make connections through churches and other non-government associations for things like blood transfusions.

>BTW This is why they’re going after the Catholic Church. The Catholics have always had their own schools, hospitals, etc., never trusting the government here or any place else. While I don’t agree with the Catholics on everything, their independence of the state is commendable.

I lost two good friends in the late 80’s-early 90’s to the The Great Hemopheliac Genocide that is politically-incorrect to talk about, because it was caused by gay-tainted blood.

In my case, it was one church friend I knew as a teenager back in the 70s. I occasionally was in contact with his older brother and found out that way.

Ditto to blood boiling! I have been precluded from donating for many years due to living in Europe pre-mad cow detection methods. I was a regular donator prior to that administrative restriction. Now we all have the potential to dance with the devil.

Have a friend right now waiting to see if she has HIV. Only possible source is 2 blood transfusions in recent years. Her immune system has been going to hell and is nonexistent, then she got large tumors, so they decided to test for HIV.

I believe there are homo men and maybe women, prostitutes, etc. who lie about their orientation and give blood. Last time I might need blood during an operation, gave my own ahead of time. However, that, too, is problematic.

My blood boils EVERY SINGLE TIME I hear this...

Mine too! A dear friend lost both her sons - her only children - because they hemophiliacs who had received tainted blood in transfusions.

Obviously, their “right” to self esteem trumps everyone else’s right to life. And if you say otherwise, you’re a homophobic bigot.

Any infections caused by this new policy will be swept under the rug by the Medical establishment and the MSM.

Why the hell aren’t we using synthetic blood substitutes in the 21st century?!

my hubs and I can’t give blood ‘cause we lived in Sub Saharan Africa in the late 80’s.
His name is on a LIST! We tried to give blood anyways, we know we did not have any diseases, but his name popped on their laptop, and then we got a letter at home.
NO blood from you!

I was stationed in Germany 1981-1983. I gave blood right after 9-11 and now I am disqualified.

I thought mad cow disease doesn’t affect humans.

Meanwhile the faggies inch closer to inflicting their diseased lifestyle on those needing transfusions. But this also means that another militant always-offended group (muzzies) will be even less likely to draw on the Red Cross blood supply. The koranimals already hate R.C. blood because most of it comes from pig-eating infidels like you & me.

Oh, well.

This would be an excellent opportunity to sue the Bamster, his Cabinet, the Democrat Party, and all gay men's organizations out of existence.

Cheers!

Aw, I think it's just a matter of Obama being easily pushed around by gay money.

He seems to be serving as something of a lobbyist for the gay "community".

Mad cow is caused by a prion that is believed to cause a variant of Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease.

This has nothing to do with homosexuals wanting to give blood. What they’re doing here is trying to address a serious obstacle in their arguments over “gay marriage.” Even the most ardent supporter of “gay marriage” recognizes the idiocy of giving people the right to “marry” when the basis of their “love” disqualifies them from even something as simple as blood donation.

While my late wife was undergoing stem cell therapy at Mass General in 1999, I was walking the halls. I passed by the Red Cross Office. I hadn’t been able to give blood since a 1983 triple bypass, but I thought it’d be OK now. The lady had me all ready to get stuck when she got out of list of Africa countries. I told her that I’d been to most of those on the list. She undid the rubber tourniquet and sent me on my way and said “thanks, but no thanks.”

The left truly does despise the living. How many more people will die because of this? The practice was ended for that reason. The blood was killing recipients.

OK, I looked up prion & C-J disease. Pretty scary, except where’s the C-J epidemics in Europe & Africa? Where’s the mad cow epidemics in those places? Can’t one’s blood be tested for this prion? To have lived in a relatively healthy environment like West Germany in the early 1980’s and forevermore be considered at risk for C-J is a bit of a stretch, IMO.

Does that mean because I live in the same country as Barack Obama that I am now and evermore at risk to become a liberal? This is “I Am Legend” stuff if you ask me.
