This is a curious move by Newt Ginrich ... Newt has previously (on several occassions) challenged Mitt Romney to stop the "scorched-earth" negative ads ... Willard (the evil Mormon arch-bishop) has always responded with an arrogant "kiss off" ... Therefore, one must wonder ... why is Newt doing this again ... in a very public manner ... Is Newt setting Romney up for something ? A political suprise of some sort ?

I am a great fan and follower of your conspiratorial erudite mind. Here's hoping...

I read that Rick and Newt were close to a deal. It might be kept quiet. If that is true, they might be trying to take out romney.

Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum may soon be campaigning together against Romney. That’s what one advisor thinks.

A senior advisor to Gingrich told the Huffington Post last night that “the campaign likes the idea of Santorum and Gingrich running on the same ticket for the presidency and vice presidency.”

“Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum would make a powerful team against Barack Obama,” the adviser, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said who spoke on the condition of anonymity

A candidate that combines Newt and Rick. Is that like CatDog?

Sounds like Milt doesn’t care what I think.

Willard said as much, yesterday or today. He said he knows the conservatives, who don't support him now, will support him in the general when he is the nominee. In other words, he said exactly what the repub establishment thinks - let the rabble rousers get it out of their systems, but when it's time, they'll fall in line. We'll see to it they have no other options. It was one of the most disrespectful things romney has said about conservatives. This is more formidable than David and Goliath. Take your vitamins, eat your greens... we will each need all the strength we can get.

Thanks! This could be very interesting.

At first I thought the GOP didn't get the message in 2010. Now I believe that they did and the message they got was that their establishment empire, though subservient to the Democrats, was being challenged by conservatism. The control of the GOP is their goal, not saving the nation.

Negative ads are all Romney has...his own record is not worth advertising, so the best he can do is tear down his opponents. If Romney is the nominee, I almost feel I would have to sit this election out.

As time goes by, I just could not vote for the SOB!

Romney is the bottom feeders' bottom feeder.

That is the funniest post I've read in quite some time! Well said!

I would feel okay about that. But I don't trust Santorum, though I think Newt knows how to read these things. You're a SAntorum supporter, right? How would you feel about it?

Here's my dream scenario - Newt gets to the convention - all the machinations go on - and Sarah parachutes in - and she, Newt, Allen West, a few other take-no-prisoner types pull it all off... But realistic practical scenarios probably have a better shot at coming true... Just think of it though!

That would be an awesome deal. Talk about igniting a fire in the GOP.. We can only hope.

Newt is the only true leader among those 3 candidates.

I also heard romney say that the base WILL support him in the general election. What arrogance!

There was an article in Red State in January about the religious leaders meeting. Romney’s religious team apparently were also arrogant. Here is an exert and note how they act like we will do whatever they say.

The problem for Team Romney is that the distrust of Romney is overwhelmingly about his record and shiftiness, but the Romney campaign fundamentally believes it is about his religion. When Team Romney concluded the pitch (read from an iPad seemingly without a passionate delivery) with an admonishment to not be an anti-Mormon bigot, it was game over. Several of the attendees felt like the Romney campaign was almost implying that they’d win without evangelicals and would expect everyone to line up when it was over even without Romney reaching out.

Note to Team Romney: when you are in a room full of Christian leaders like those who were in that room and who have all long been attacked by the left as bigots, it is unwise — no, it is damn foolish — to accuse them of being anti-Mormon bigots, something too many Romney supporters have descended to as the only possible explanation for

i was at work, so I could only catch little snippets of Mark Levin tonight, but he was playing one of romney's ads against Santorum, and screaming, you know how he gets when he screams, he was screaming at Romney... I am going to listen to the rewind tomorrow.

I have always said I wanted Rick, but will vote for Newt. These two would be great. Newt the smart attack dog and Rick the heart of soul side. together they would be what the base wants. As long as we don’t get romney, that’s what matters.

Mitt Romney is complete scum. If you think he’ll run this hard against a Democrat, you’re dreaming. This sort of slimy hardball is reserved for conservatives.

That photo pretty much sums up why the Tea Party hates him, and for good reason.

The Tea Party is not a party. It is conservatives attempting to take over the GOP and force the RINOs to form the third party of "moderates" that everyone is clamoring for. (That last part is sarcasm.)
