Newt Gingrich has crafted a reasonable comeback strategy considering his predicament and his goals for the country. Here are the cards that Newt has. He has built a tremendous and growing volunteer network. He has the ability to frame the most important issues facing the government. Notice that the media loves to schedule and interview Newt. Also, President Obama and Jay Carney are replying to Newt Gingrich's $2.50 per gallon and oil drilling proposals. As Newt stays in the race, Romney has to spend money on negative ads to attack and bring down both Santorum and Gingrich. If Newt stays in Romney has little chance to garner greater than 30 percent of delegates in each primary. If Newt drops out, there is a greater chance that Romney will knock out Santorum and win. Now, if Romney does not get enough votes to clinch the nomination, there is a chance that Newt's stature will continue to rise, and he will continue to showcase his skills, plans and abilities and will appear more presidential and electable than Santorum. Newt's delegate count may approach or pass Santorum's delegate count. This is the 60 day discussion that will begin at the end of June at the end of the primaries. At that time, Gingrich and Santorum may agree to a joint ticket with one or the other at the top of the ticket. Newt owes this strategy to his large volunteer network and to the country. As time goes forward, more and more Americans will want Newt Gingrich on the National Ticket so we citizens can benefit from his experience, ideas, plans, reforms and doable goals for the country that we love.
Tirade? You mean like calling folks “delusional”? Guess which faction that came from.
The beauty about Newt and Newtbots is that we don’t give two hoots what Santorum’s people have to say much less the lying cry-baby shills paid by Mitt.
It looks like Newt and Rick have developed a strategy to deny RINOs, liberals and GOPe enough votes for Mitt to “seal the deal”. The closer we get to Convention and with Mitt still stuck at less than any majority, more will see Mitt for the non-finisher he is.
I haven't come across a serious discussion of that theory, even among the strongest Newt doubters. If I did see it, however, I'd call it total rubbish.
BUT:
It does seem that Newt's campaign would collapse into Ron Paul territory without the huge contributions from Las Vegas billionaire Sheldon Adelson. It's rumored that Adelson dislikes Santo with a passion, fearing that Rick's strict morality would put a damper on Adelson's gambling empire. Moreover, Adelson has stated that he would gladly support Romney as GOP nominee.
So just ask yourself and draw your own conclusion:
What kind of motive drives Adelson's continued funding of Newt? Is it "ideologically pure" fondness for the Gingrich agenda? Or is it a desire that Santo not be able to knock Romney out of the race?
Hint: You don't get to be a Las Vegas billionaire by being ideologically pure.
>> I dont care if he wins or loses >>........... I back Newt over the rest, but I can’t “appoint” him President. When I say win or lose, I say I don’t have control of the election anymore than anyone else here. I don’t see a landslide election for Newt, it will be an uphill battle, because he has to educate those who are education challenged. No one can predict that he “will win”. He will mop the floor with Obama in a debate, that’s a given, but getting the Obamphiles heads of mush to vote for him?? That remains to be seen. I’ll vote Newt anytime, no where did I say I wouldn’t, but I’m only one vote. If he loses the Presidency, atleast he’ll knock Obama down a notch or two. Mitt and Santorum will get creamed by Obama in a debate. The Dems know that, and they know they don’t want to get into a debate with Newt. All the points you made are no secret, but we need the house and Senate too, if we want to stop it.
Newt’s problem is that all his political experience is in the House. The GOP won’t nominate anyone ANYONE anyone from the House for the top of the ticket. Rand Paul would have a better chance than Ron Paul, for example. Although I am a Santorum supporter, this is not a bash of Newt nor his supporters.
They all have a plan. Newt has a nifty sign.
Yep, Newt's forced BO's hands already and has him on the run! ...Stunning!
But there's more.....this week Energy Sec. "Chu" has now back tracked on his previous statement that the US gas prices need to be the same as Europeans after Newt revealed the jerks stance on energy and drove it home to the public
Once again Newt doesn't stand there and chit-chat- about how wonderfull he is...what races he's won or lost and go on and on....he goes right to taking on Obam's policies and the Whithouse responds!! LoL! They know who their threat is...
There's a two man race going on all right and it's between Newt and Obama right before our eyes if folks would just listen up!
After Florida and Missouri, Minnesota, Colorado it was “just you wait, on Super Tuesday I’ll show ‘em.”
After Super Tuesday it was, “new strategy: this time I’m really gonna show ‘em, you watch, I’ll rise from the ashes in the Deep South and really, really, really show ‘em.”
Today it’s “oh well, who cares about the Deep South, you just wait, I’m gonna really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really show ‘em in Tampa.”
I’m waiting.
Well I am a but confused. I understand the vote in MS, AL was essentially split 3-way Santorum, Romney, Newt. That tells me good news is that voters don’t want Romney and want a conservative but are split on which conservative.
Another poster that lives in MS says he heard no ads from Newt, nothing from Newt. That is strange.
Might want to check how Reagan did likewise and still won the election...there’s an old saying...”Don’t count your chickens until they hatch”.
Go NEWT Go!!!!! On to the Convention !!!!
No, you don’t unnnnnnddddddeeeeererrrssssstaaaaaand.
See, people would really like Newt if only they’d really get to know him. But those eeeeeeeevvvvvviiiiiiilllllll Santorumites and Romneyites have so bedeviled people that people think think don’t like Newt. They actually do like Newt but they just don’t know that that they do.
And Newt’s acolytes here on FR are going to really, really, really, really winsomely attract people to Newt by pointing out how “Little Ricky is a monster big spending liberal RINO wife-beating lying thieving spawn of hell.”
That’ll win ‘em over, for sure. Just you wait.
Because Newt himself made a Really Big Deal out of how he was going to swamp the others in Alabama and Mississippi, after his prediction that he’d swamp the others on Super Tuesday was a dud.
Look, you can’t keep promising that you’re going to rise spectacularly from the ashes (as Newt has been doing since Florida) for ever without at least once having your predictions at least come close to coming true. Newt said he’d win handily in the Deep South.
He
did
not.
So he lost handily.
When you predict a big win, a small numerical loss (and 5% loss in Alabama is actually not insignificant) is a big loss.
Ok, that was funny raht thar, I don’t care who y’are!
Champ, wake up, Champ! Hey, don't sleep now...
He is not dead! He is not dead! Wake up Champ!
Santorum rides on his ego...he's all about telling people how right he is even when facts speak otherwise. He needs that glory. That's why you hear him using the word "I" frequently...and one of his enduring trademarks known to those who know how he operates.
Besides... Santorum's too busy "borrowing" everybody elses lines.. from Newt, to Perrys etc. ...He's not a stand alone candidate and certainly no threat to obam. His plans have no substance...so how would he know what to sling at Obam.
Yes Joe...we already know you’re in Santorum’s court...you’ve made that quite clear on the threads.
Oh heck yes, I'll certainly agree to that. This is going to come down to when Newt and Santorum decide when the game is up, and it won't end until they say it ends.
This has proved to be one crazy race...and Newt said from the get go this would not be a traditional race. it'll make history before it's done...it's been entirely unpredictable for the most part as many parties playing roles behind the scenes.
Does it matter? No....
....more importantly the Whitehouse directly addressed Newt's statements....Chu even back tracked...and Obam addressed Newt's stance in both his campaign speeches....
You learned that when you were at AA, eh? Perhaps you should find another meeting and listen to the advice about not posting while drunk.
