In 1967,
Gerry Goffin and Carole King got placement with Aretha Franklin, providing her with a major hit and a song that many other artists would record. Few people could play the piano like Aretha, and few could produce like Jerry Wexler.
Aretha Franklin: A Natural Woman
Some other recordings:
Carole King in 1971
Bonnie Tyler in 1978
Celine Dion in 1995

The green structure is ad hoc..I’m hoping for something more permanent later.
Bought some chicken wire to try to keep the bunnies out of my cold crops this year.
I always have high hopes, sometimes it works, sometimes not.
I’m thinking my asparagus croaked over the winter...I’m not seeing new shoots yet.

Well, that IS weird...in a good sort of a way!
When I read the first part of that sentence, my heart lept into my throat. I was afraid you’d have to go back to NY! LOL!
Soooo glad you got re-hired and love that your pay and time are better!
Isn’t it time to start planning a TARD trip. :)
Just sayin’......

{{{HUGS}}} backatchya, Taz!!
Long time no chat...been real busy, lately.
We even cancelled a trip up North 'cause I need to put in some hours at the office this weekend. I reckon it's better than the alternative, though...!!

In 1968,
Gerry Goffin and Carole King failed to chart, but one of their songs from that year made it into the soundtrack of Easy Rider.
The Byrds: Wasnt Born to Follow
The composer took her own shot at it:
Carole King in 1980 (A very different take on the song.)

In 1969,
Gerry Goffin and Carole King had their valedictory hit. But they went out in style!
Blood, Sweat & Tears: Hi-De-Ho
Carole took her own shot at it:
Carole King in 1980
Their marriage crumbled, and while Gerry found new composers for lyrical work, Carole moved to L.A. There she teamed with producer Lou Adler, fresh off his work with the Mamas and the Papas. Caroles group, The City, failed, and it was friend James Taylor who urged Carole to go solo.
Her first disk failed, but her second, Tapestry, from 1971, was one of the greatest successes the music industry had ever seen. There was a song from the Gerry Goffin and Carole King songbook, never recorded before, that made it into that album.
Carole King: Smackwater Jack
Tapestry and her next three albums all went Multiple Platinum. She teamed again in 1975 with Gerry for an album that failed.
When her third husband died of a heroin overdose, Carole retreated from public life and moved to a small mountain village in Idaho. She had one more successful album, Pearls, which came out in 1980. Its a collection of performances of songs she had written during her years with Gerry.
On occasion, Carole King records an album, but her primary work today is in the environmental movement. She and Gerry were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.

Glad to hear that things are working for you Brother.
We get complacent here in Texas occasionally since it works so good.
Glad to hear of success.
