On the red carpet Thursday before the preview of the HBO film Game Change, actess Julianne Moore, who plays Sarah Palin in the film, said she did not want to talk about politics before declaring herself a "liberal Democrat" who supports President Barack Obama.
CNSNews.com asked Moore: "Are there any public policy issues that you agree with Sarah Palin on?"
Moore said, You know, Im leaving politics out of this. And shes [Palin] not a political figure right now, I mean, I think shes a--right now--shes a correspondent for Fox News, so.
CNSNews.com then asked: What about President Obama, do you agree with some of his policy positions?
Moore, laughing, said, Yes. Im a Liberal Democrat. So, yes.
Moore also said it was fascinating to play the conservative Palin in the film and added that she tried to be as accurate as possible in her portrayal.
Game Change, which premieres on the cable channel HBO on March 10, chronicles the Sen. John McCain's selection of the former Alaska governor as his running mate on the 2008 Republican presidential ticket.
When asked what it was like to play Sarah Palin, Moore said, It was fascinating. It really, really was. I mean, I think whenever youre playing a living figure, let alone a historically and culturally significant one, you have a tremendous responsibility to be as accurate as possible, to be as true as possible.
So it was a daunting task, Moore said. I had--fortunately, everything is documented. I have a lot of things to draw on. Theres YouTube, all the books. And I really just tried to work within those parameters and be true within the characterization.
Moore did not meet with Palin before portraying her for the film, though she said Director Jay Roach reached out to Palin for a meeting before filming. Palin, Moore said, declined the meeting. So we knew she didnt want to be involved, said Moore.
The HBO film has been criticized by aides to Sarah Palin and Sen. McCain has described it as inaccurate. It's based on a book that is full of unattributed quotes, things that absolutely never happened and, if it's based on that book, which I was briefed on, then, of course, it can't be accurate," McCain said on Monday.
The senators wife, Cindy McCain, told CNN, "I lived this. And from everything I've read and heard, it doesn't even resemble what took place. I can go to Disneyland for fiction.
HBO defended the movie as a balanced portrayal of the McCain-Palin campaign.
If the book was very misleading, the movies going to be far worse, Palin adviser Randy Scheunemann said during a conference call Wednesday. It gives fiction a bad name to call this fiction.
Game Change was adapted from the book of the same name by journalists Mark Halperin and John Heilemann.
Palins story as the vice presidential nominee plays only a minor part in the book, which also details the heated primary battle between then Democratic candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
Moore, along with Roach and Halperin, walked the red carpet for the films preview at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. on Thursday night, March 8.
I can't imagine why.
And I still can't get over Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin. There were no hot actresses available? They went with Maude Lebowski?
Dumb wench. She did the money for 2 reasons. Money and it trashes Sarah Palin. She got a “2fer”. If she’s a “liberal democrat” andn she’s so caring of her fellow human beings, how much of that money will go toward any type of charity?
You are a genetic liberal democrat, Julianne, you may as well have stupid tatooed on your forehead.
Julianne Moore is a “dumb tw@t(TM).”
She is wrong. She is a leftist democrat.
Mentally challenged, as all Follywood Libs are.
There are two kinds of democrats:
Those who want to punish or destroy America and those who passively aid them with their votes.
Another liberal fluke doin’ it for the money...
Actress. Check.
Low IQ. Check.
No education to speak of. Check.
Liberal dim-bulb-crat. Check.
Nothing to see here...move along, move along.
You are about as *accurate* in your 'art', Julianne, as that other Moore, Michael, which is to say, a complete phony. You likely believe, as an article of faith, that Tina Fey's parody of Governer Palin was accurate as well, when it was most certainly not, so shut yer piehole...
the infowarrior
HBO as we all know is totally in the tank for Democrats/Progressives/Marxists, featuring rabid leftists like Bill Maher. It's owned by Time-Warner, the huge liberal company not known for being kind to conservatives.
Why do people keep falling for this stuff? People still complain about film maker Leni Riefenstahl being in the tank for Hitler. What we see happening now via massive left wing media control is a million times more dangerous to liberty and freedom.
HBO movie producers took a book Sarah Palin says is not accurate but didn’t use it much for the movie anyway, just the title. Instead, they added to and drastically altered the book’s story line. HBO producers did not obtain permission from the real-life human beings who HBO was going to portray in a manner against their wishes. Thus, Game Change became a major-league hit piece with intent to denigrate Sarah Palin and other parties.
Tell me again why this is not actionable in court and why the Palins cannot receive damages from HBO, home to Bill Maher.
Why is this not slander against Sarah Palin? Can HBO portray anyone they want anyway they like against that person’s wishes?
Like Klansmen being in charge of portraying the life of Martin Luther King Jr.
bttt
How could anyone expect to believe that these numbskull, uber-Libs could make a credible movie about the Republican campaign?
