Drug enforcement chiefs have for the first time identified the Vatican as a possible centre for money laundering from criminal activity.
The report by the American State Department's International Narcotics Control Strategy lists the Holy See as one of 68 countries including Yemen, Algeria and North Korea, describing it as a 'country of concern' for money laundering or other financial crimes.
Officials said they had placed the Vatican on its watch list because of the 'huge amount of cash' that flows into the tiny city state and also because it was still unclear how effective anti money laundering legislation introduced last year by Pope Benedict XVI had been....
Prosecutors in Rome are currently investigating two transfers totalling 23 million Euros from the Vatican Bank, or the Institute of Religious Works to give it its proper name, to two smaller banks.
The transactions took place in September 2010 and as a result the head of the Vatican Bank, Ettore Gotti Tedeschi and his chief executive Paolo Cipriani, were placed under official investigation by Rome prosecutors and the 23 million Euro was also seized as part of the investigation.
Officials were tipped off about the two suspicious transactions by the Bank of Italy, as the Vatican Bank was said to have 'failed to disclose fully' all the information it was supposed to regarding the transactions as per international banking laws.

Now in my city the oldest city in America and where the first Christian/Catholic prayer was ever said I might add is having a massive birthday bash coming up and there is talk of wanting the Pope and the Queen of England and Spain.
Sadly that is in a couple of years and not this year and we need him now and I’m saying this as a non Catholic

We chose it because of the history, hardly no crime, people speak English so we can talk to others, quiet , one of the most republican counties in the state, nearly 70% goes for the republican candidate, near to JAX, heck we don’t even have any Dems in power for the county.
It’s amazing when you stand at the exact place where the first prayer was ever said in N, America, there is a small chapel there which we take visitors when they come and the grounds are beautiful.
LOL and there is a cross over 200 foot which can be seen very far away and lit up at night and the ACLU can’t do a thing to pull it down.
If you ever come down then by all means give us a shout and we’d more than happy to show you around or give you info on where to go so you don’t go getting ripped off.
Oh and we just lowered our property taxes recently and it’s much cheaper here than down in the south of the state.
We get a weather change climate unlike the south part of the state.
I get it: When they decide you’re a POLITICAL enemy, they accuse you of CRIMES. That is exactly like China or the former USSR.
The next step is to put political enemies in psychiatric wards to be forcibly medicated.
If they overuse this, people will come to see those charge with crimes as simple POLITICAL enemies and we’ll see the emergence of actual, “American DISSIDENTS”.
