A local school district is apologizing after an apparent incident of racism at a boys high school basketball game this past weekend.
When the final whistle blew Saturday, Alamo Heights celebrated a convincing victory over San Antonio Edison.
Alamo Heights Head Coach Andrew Brewer said he was proud of his team.
Tremendously proud, Brewer said. Tremendously. Its the best group of kids.
But it was just after the trophy presentation when the coach was not proud of the chant coming from Alamo Heights fans.
USA, USA, USA, they chanted.
San Antonio Independent School District officials took the chant as a racial insult to a school with all minority players from a school with mostly white ones.
On the KSAT 12 Defenders Facebook page, Santos Villarreals post reads this has to stop.
I guess a movie about short brown people cannot jump would not go over well.
“The heros of the Alamo are puking in their graves.”
It’s hell to find out a century or two later that all that our ancestors sacrificed to form this country was USELESS and so very un PC! And we can thank plenty of good ‘conservatives’ like George Bush, John McCain, Newt Gingrich and many here on FR for letting it get SO far that we can never fix this mess!
Study your Spanish & Mandarin, learn to love socialism, folks, because the grand experiment of a sovereign USA is OVER.

[snip]Hispanics make up 15 percent of the 42.5 million individuals or households that paid no income taxes in 2004. In contrast, they made up roughly 10 percent of all 131 million taxable American households....
and roughly 52 percent of Hispanics pay no income taxes.

Seems to be another manufactured news story, this time by media outlet KSAT12. The basketball coach stopped the students’ chant quickly, but a KSAT12 news producer thought it would be good to use it as an opportunity to turn one American against another to make it a bigger story.
This piece of reporting is more than KSAT12 pushing political correctness; I think that the news outlet should be the one that must defend its rationale for the news story’s slant and answer why they chose to increase racial/cultural tensions in their communities.
Also, it was not the school superintendent’s responsibility to apologize for the cheering; he could and should have handled any problems internally within the school district. He’s paid to do actual work to fix problems; not apologize for actions other than his own.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion (this provision does not apply to extreme religious sects - hereinafter identified as Christians), or prohibiting the free exercise thereof (unless said exercise in anywhere but you silly church or your private residence); or abridging the freedom of speech (unless some useless bureaucrat determines the speech is not politically correct or using some arbitrary standard, imposed by the government may offend certain special classes of people), or of the press (so long as the press prints the official government line and does not refer to Democrat part operatives as sluts); or the right of the people peaceably to assemble (unless a government bureaucrat determines you are not entitled, based on your violation of one of the forgoing abuse of the privileges granted herein, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances (good luck with that).
Looks like Radar O’Reilly.
Texas
Though I hate it when I hear that chant at a sporting event Since when has it become a racist term.
What the hell is going on in Southern Texas anyway.I guess the illegal alians are overrunning the place.
Nero fiddled while Rome burned......
Mexican basketball players sounds like a low odds proposition
Alamo Heights was once tony...
That is a good question as to what would have happened had the other team chanted “Mexico.” They did that at a professional soccer match in California a few years back.
In truth, the local school is not a National thing and the chant of “USA, USA, USA!” is really not what you normally hear at local schools when they win a game. The team was not the USA team and the team they played against was not a foreign team.
So, I think in this case, it was a statement that Americans had just beat Mexican at a game. In truth the Hispanic children are Texans and Americans, too.
This bit with making people appologize is stupid. You appologize when you intentionally hurt someone and you are truly sorry about it. One can not be “made” to appologize. It is not just words.
Liberals are numbing people to the real concepts and emotions of love and care by making sorrow into a political game. After all this and Obama’s constant appologies, appologizing becomes at best, meaningless and at worst, something to dark, weak and to be resisted. Appology comes out of sorrow for accidently or purposefully treating your neighbor, friend, etc. in a way you would not want to be treated yourself. It comes out of humility not PC bullying.
The “rest of the story”: the kids from Edison were chanting, “Alamo Whites” before and during the game. Did Alamo Heights get an apology? Hell, no!
Pretty soon, just flying the American flag will be considered as racist.
What happened to “Don’t Mess with Texas”?
You know what gator...as an unrepentant southerner...I have warned Yankees here who lecture me on race and the South about just that
folks in homogeneous areas have no clue
I was just in northern Michigan...I saw one light skinned black guy...one...in 48 hours
no Mexicans or “others”
it's easy to be naive when you are not confronted with with any cultural friction beyond which round or Sicilian
Patriotic... maybe. Nationalist... maybe. Possibly even impolite. But racist?
“Racist” is an all purpose pejorative for the progressive mind-controllers.
There was a Pearls Before Swine comic strip that I saved which went something like this:
Rat: I have decided to just start saying I am sorry because it is just a meaningless word.
Pig: Well that isn’t very nice.
Rat: Sorry.
I think the school district should be asking instead, Why didnt the San Antonio Edison fans JOIN IN the chant of USA! USA!?
Arent we all on the SAME team, as it were?
