Emboldened by Rush Limbaughs public apology over the weekend to a law school student whom he had called a slut and a prostitute, critics of the radio talk show host are intensifying their online campaign against his advertisers. he apology, they said, was a signal that the campaign was working. On Sunday, a seventh company, ProFlowers, said that it was suspending all of its advertising on The Rush Limbaugh Show despite his apologetic statement a day earlier.
For now, the ad boycott is uncomfortable but not crippling for Mr. Limbaugh, who is estimated to make $50 million a year and whose program is a profit center for Premiere Radio Networks, the company that syndicates it. The program makes money both through ads and through fees paid by local radio stations, and while it often has sparked outrage during more than two decades on the air, efforts at ad boycotts in the past have had no measurable effect. Liberal groups and activists, however, hope that this time is different.
Mr. Limbaugh has been roundly criticized for talking at length about the sex life of Sandra Fluke, a Georgetown University law student who testified in support of the Obama administrations requirement that health insurance plans cover contraceptives for women. For three straight days he lambasted her, before saying in a statement Saturday afternoon that he did not intend to attack her personally. I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation, he said.
By the time he apologized, online protesters had been organizing for days on social networking Web sites and liberal hubs like Daily Kos. They called on companies like ProFlowers to remove their ads from The Rush Limbaugh Show and appeared to be having some success, as companies like Sleep Train said they had suspended advertising.

There is an important point to be emphasized in your sentence.
She is discussing STUDENT health insurance, not employee health insurance. In other words, her health insurance is not tied to her ability to make a living. The funny thing is, Georgetown has a health insurance mandate, just like Obamacare. The students are REQUIRED to carry either the health insurance package offered or comparable outside insurance coverage as a stipulation for enrollment. So not only did she choose Georgetown because their insurance doesn't cover birth control, but also because they mandate you have a specific level of coverage.
I'm thinking I'd like to try and start a movement for all those who support Rush to become 24/7 members. I have considered becoming a member off and on for awhile, now I think is the time to commit to show support.
Rush did a good thing. It will clean out the rotten advertisers that are nothing but liberal communist like fools. So he can now dump the fools that support the destruction of America.
No one is going to say “I’m a slut and I’m a prostitute.” She definitely implied that “we” — need to be paid $1,000 a year for birth control. She opened herself to ridicule and Rush rushed in. Good for him. You really are a useful idiot.
Are there that many hotels/motels that use Sleep Number beds? I’m just asking.
Brian Stelter looks like a fat Lesbian.
How idiotic. She did not have to publicly state that she has loose morals—her own history (see post #91 on this thread) says a lot about her. Are you saying Rush can only comment on what she said in that one setting—or does he get to consider her entire history? I repeat, you are doing the left’s work for them.
B.S.!
Is it Sleep Number or Sleep Train?
I think announcing to a sponsor that youll never buy their product or service again is a waste of time. Please understand I don't mean this as any kind of personal attack, but I think this line of thinking has almost destroyed conservatism in this country. When the leftists set about trying to ruin Rush over this Fluke thing, did they consider it a "waste of time"? Did they question the usefulness--or rationality, even--of what they were about to do? NO. They went on the offense. And it worked. We can't now sit back and hem and haw over how effective this or that might be. As Andrew Breitbart once said, "You have to go for the throat with these people."
12:00! SHOW TIME!!!!!!
Is that a way of saying you demonstrate the same situational ethics that liberals do? That there is no right and wrong? That if the person who does wrong is one of 'our guys' you give them a pass?
No thanks.
I always thought one of the nice things about conservatism was in we believed in right and wrong, not in 'whoa, it's only wrong if it not our guy doing it."
Too bad Rush apologised. Backtracking looks weak. Say what you mean and mean what you say.
Just wondering.

If we had been politically correct and oh so mannerly back when we parted ways with England, we’d still be subjects of England. We face a similar situation now, and we’d better have the guts to come out and call something what it is—in this case, a slut, because our right to do that is being challenged, just as our right to NOT fund abortions is what is at the crux of the whole Rush v. slut situation now. Bow to them now, and you’ll be bowing to them forever.
It's true - I'll bet there's not one person in the newsroom of the New York Times who doesn't 'roundly criticize' Rush Limbaugh - for EVERYTHING. Absolutely everything that comes out of his mouth - other this issue and every other issue.
I'll bet they're dancing in the aisles over this one - the bullies think they've got him on the ground - - they're all kicking him in the face... they really do hate us that much. Usually members of the Democrat-media Complex have to contain their hatred of us because too many people agree with us - but on this issue they feel the freedom to vent their pent up hatred. Go for it boys - you outnumber us, you buy ink by the traincar - throw your weight around... what credibility do you have left to lose anyhow?
Once you use certain words, slut among them, you lose. Use of that term is not satire, it is polemic. You turn off many people, many who would be predisposed to listen to your position. You want to win? Make a commercial or DVD showing all of the ignorant things that Maher, Obama, Wasserman-Shultz and yes Fluke have said and mass market it. USE FACTS!!!! Personal insults are useless and stupid. That’s what pisses me off about the Republican Party. They never atttack using facts. Instead, the Dems can say that Republicans want to take away Social Security or school lunches. I could create an ad campaign that would make these people look like fools. But at the top of the party, this would threaten their grasp on the power held within. They don’t give a crap about us, the average Joe.
What I am ashamed of is all the idiot Freepers who, instead of rallying behind Rush, are piling on with the left.
Shame on all of you who are doing that. You are the real cowards, and we don’t need you in our foxhole.
Whenever you have done 1/millionth of what Rush has done for conservatism, or shown 1/millionth the courage he has shown in the face of liberal pressure and opposition, get back to us.
