Too Little, Too Late for Rush Limbaugh? Republican Allies and Advertisers Continue To Desert Host Despite Apology
Conservative radio host slammed Georgetown University's Sandra Fluke Seven advertisers responded by dropping their ads on his show
By MEGHAN KENEALLY 5th March 2012
Newt Gingrich was the latest Republican presidential candidate to distance himself from the controversial radio commentator Rush Limbaugh following his tirade against a law student that he deemed a 'slut'. Appearing on a Sunday morning news program, Mr Gingrich said that it was 'silly' to suggest that Mr Limbaugh speaks on behalf of the entire Republican party, and that he glad that Mr Limbaugh issued an apology to Sandra Fluke, the woman at the heart of the debate.
Following her appearance at a hearing in support of President Obama's quest to have all employers pay for birth control through health insurance policies, Mr Limbaugh called the 30-year-old Ms Fluke a 'prostitute' and suggested that she could make enough money to pay for her birth control by posting videos of herself having sex online.
Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York and a fierce opponent of Mr Obama's policy, criticised Mr Limbaugh's pugnacious comments and said: 'Whatever we do, and however strongly we feel, we do it charitably, we do it civilly.'
Rant: Rush Limbaugh, 61, left called Sandra Fluke, right, a student at Catholic college Georgetown University, a 'slut' for saying religious institutions should cover birth control under health insurance Mr Gingrich's fellow candidates already responded, with each varying in their severity. Rick Santorum said that the comments were 'absurd' and Ron Paul said that they were 'crude'. Mitt Romney tried to tactfully avoid the issue at several campaign events before finally saying Mr Limbaugh's remarks were 'not the language I would have used'.

Thanks for that list and phone numbers of Rush’s former sponsors. I’ll be calling them...
If Newt sucks, you must really be disgusted with Santorum for what he said.
The only people offended by what Rush said are people that hate Rush, Rinos, and SLUTS like the author of this POS.
I guess...actually I know they are a lot of lowlife scumbag SLUTS in this country. Fark em all if they’re offended at being called SLUTS. I’m offended at their lifestyles and what they’ve done to the culture of America.
And now Rush has his own tea ..... what next? Flowers? Mattresses?
Ditto
Newt hits homerun on Meet the Press-03-04-12 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPYdcT2lwPg
And after the last election, I have not allowed my wife to register (since we’ve moved).
Something Rush could do to turn the tables is to announce an extended vacation and have Sarah Palin fill in. Ratings and energy through the roof, no advertiser could refuse that audience.
He could take a vacation for “intellectual rehab” and have Mark Steyn and Sarah Palin fill in, LOL.
Watch this and shut up, moron.
From what I read of Newt’s comments, he wasn’t dismissive of Rush, just glad that he apologized. But he blasted the media for fixating on Rush’s comments while ignoring the actual issue of the Obama administrations attacks on religious freedom rights, and using their feigned outrage about the comments to avoid mentioning all the other problems in the Obama administration.
Go Newt!
“It depends on who is controlling this situation. You know who took Clear Channel public, right? Mitt Romney and Bain Capital.
Do you think that the Republican money behind Romney would hesitate a moment to dump Rush completely if he was seen as screwing up the election for them? Not a chance in H-e-double hockey sticks.”
So? How long do you think it would take
Rush to get on another network with new sponsors? Then maybe he’d stop treating Mittens with mink mittens. This could actually be fun.
To me, what she testified about or advocated for is not the compelling issue. She was relatively unknown before this and would have remained so had Mr. Limbaugh not chosen to distort the issue and blow it all out of proportion. As a direct result of his action every republican presidential candidates was thrown off message and unnecessarily placed in a difficult position. His advertisers and investors were likewise placed in an untenable position through no fault of their own. They stood to loose either way they went. Loyalty is a two way street and I am afraid Rush's decision to use the tactics of Bill Maher, Cris Matthews, Ed Schultz and others does not enhance his creditability.
Waaaahhhhh.....
Does anybody have an email for this chick? I can’t find one. I’d like to know exactly when Newt said that because it’s not what I heard him say.
EXCELLENT CATCH!!!!
Hope rush reads your post!
Rush has been getting harder on Romney his last few shows.
He could send M. Fluke a big ol arrangement of flowers from the competing flower company. That would be fun.
