Three advertisers on Rush Limbaughs popular radio show Friday announced that they are pulling their ads, and other companies are expressing concern over customer outrage in the wake of the conservative hosts controversial slut comments this week.
We dont condone negative comments directed toward any group. In response, we are currently pulling our ads from Rush with Rush Limbaugh, the company Sleep Train Mattress Centers announced on its Twitter account early Friday.
The company began tweeting at some of its followers starting around midnight, telling multiple Twitter users, Thank you for your concern. We are currently pulling all of our ads with Rush Limbaugh.
All of the companys tweets announcing its decision met grateful responses from the Twitter world.
I have to buy a frame this weekend. Now I know where to go. Thank you for refusing to support Rushs hatred, @djimenez9 tweeted.
Thank you @theSleepTrain for not supporting misogyny. Youre a good egg, said @FlightyWendy.

Carbonite, Sleep Train Mattress Centers, and Quicken Loans are the three.
Anybody do business with them here?

Hatred is usually from the left. Disagreement with them is just called hate by them.

My hope, when all this has died down, and all those companies sales are down, and they want to advertise again, Rush tells them to go to hell where they belong.

Well, this is timely. I made a special effort to get my last mattress from Sleep Train 11 years ago. A new one is due and it won't be from them.
Haven't used Carbonite and won't now, even though we've been giving it thought.
Quicken is now gone from our future business prospects as well.
Gee this makes vendor choices a bit easier. You know, when all is said and done, I'll betcha these companies lose more business from Rush supporters than they would have from supporters of government financed "social needs".

Great alternative to Carbonite is at www.crashplan.com
I tried Mozy Pro and Carbonite. They are all rubbish compared to Crashplan.

>"I use Carbonite which is up for renewal next month. Anyone know an alternative?"Buy a 2TB external HD. 100.00 or less.
Drag drop and copy your existing hard drives.
Day or so later/when done, pull plug and store 2TB.

The one thing that a lot of people are not understanding is, a business decision to advertise in any medium is based on making impressions on readers/listeners/viewers...not in "supporting a cause".
If I am an advertiser and you reach a lot of people who would be my main market for my product, I'm buying time/space in your medium. So long as you don't say anything derogatory about me or my business, and I see results from my ads, I'm there to stay.
The occutypes who are doing the bitching are not going to buy a "sleep number mattress"...they're sleeping in tents in city parks.
I would like to see the numbers reflecting a boycott of the anti-Rush gang against sleepnumber as opposed to their loss of business by pulling their ads.
Either way, Rush isn't going to starve.
In Rush's shoes, I would say; "I'll tell my 20+million listeners how great your product is, but you don't control the content of my show. Your only motivators for cancelling your ads should be if I say something derogatory about you/your business, or, lose my listeners. Neither has happened and you have fallen victim to those who would quell free speech in America.
You knew of my vast listenership when you signed the advertising contract, and you know that talk radio inherently delves in controversy. If you thought I was going to sit here 15 hours a week and sing 'kum-ba-yah', then you didn't research your advertising very well.
So, rest assured that your ads will be cancelled, per your request. I hope if you ever change your mind you will remember that I have a long waiting list of advertisers who are eager for your time slot, and when the time is sold out, it's sold out. Good luck."

I think this is going overboard. Most of those companies if
it were not for Rush; they would not be a successful business.
I stopped listening to Rush since he never defended Newt on Bloody Thursday week before the Florida vote though, this radical war on getting him off of the air is what we see now.

Thanks for the alternatives.
I did a search and found a number of them.
Carbonite was not even listed in search.
I did check, It does not expire till June.
