Just when you thought unemployment was dropping and stock markets were surging back, these three analysts today sent out a stark warning to Americans to brace for another financial crash. Trend forecaster Gerald Celente advises buying a gun to protect your family, stocking up on gold if the dollar crashes and planning a getaway, so it’s no shock he’s preparing for an ‘economic 9/11’. Share prices and unemployment are posting their best figures in four years since the recession hit, but Mr Celente, along with authors Harry Dent and Robert Prechter, says the rebound won’t last.

Logic tells me if one needs 5000 rounds of ammo, one is going to need an army. I don’t know of any fight between me and another that is going to take more than 100 rounds. Probably no more than 50. Food, medicine, and some kind of currency will be more necessary for the bulk of the time.
The city slickers at the UK paper talk as if it is somehow a bad thing to move your savings that previous were in the form of constantly-depreciating dollars into some assets that don’t depreciate or even may appreciate in dollar terms. And besides, a firearm may come in handy once in a while.
It’s not my fault that some people choose to live in areas where they allow government to force them to live like whimpering dependent serfs. These people, who fought off Hitler, now cower at lesser threats. The present generation cannot even envision standing on their own two feet. Well, sorry to tell the facts, Jack, but when seconds count, the government help may be hours away, if it ever comes at all! After all, the UK government just admitted it was OUT OF MONEY!

Logic tells me that if I can get a great price on extra ammo, it might just be very useful some day to barter for other things of value.

If you keep it cool and dry, it should outlast you. There is 70 year old ammo being used today, and it works fine.
If you expect to need that much ammo, you need spare barrels, too.
And tools to install them.

ten years ago i got a deal on a wwi 7mm mauser plus 500rds of ammo from the same era...i didnt use a couple that small cracks around the neck but not a dud in the rest

It has been noted here before that the smart money is on the “gangs” with RealTree and Mossy Oak as gang colors, over for instance those wearing the blue and red of the Crips and Bloods.
If Obama is re-elected I would predict armed insurrection and whole states or parts of states to break away from the United States.
