CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) -- President Hugo Chavez bid an emotional farewell laced with references to Jesus Christ and independence hero Simon Bolivar as he departed Venezuela on Friday for Cuba for urgent surgery to remove a tumor he says is probably malignant.
Clasping the hand of his youngest daughter, Chavez addressed allies of his socialist political movement and troops standing at attention at the Miraflores presidential palace.

Post of the day :-)

Chavez left today for Cuba to have something removed. I leave the “something” because it is the vagueness that micomandantepresidente likes best when we talk about what pain in the ass he suffers from.
First time I’ve ever heard of a ‘tumor with a tumor’.
How backward is YOUR Country if you have to leave there and go to Cuba for surgery???
Who goes to Cuba for any type of medical procedure? How terrible is the health care system in Venezuela that its own ruler has to go to Cuba for a tumor removal?
If the Tumor doesn’t kill him, the Chemo will. He has puffed up due to Kidney damage from the Chemo. Happened to my best friend with mesothelioma, Renal failure killed him before the cancer did.
Nice to see God at work in the world
Gotta wonder how many Venezuelans are praying for the removal of the tumor at the head of their governmental system.
Actually, I’d hope the Chavez could hang on for at least a year - if he does kick off anytime soon, we can be damn sure the current set of clowns in DC will screw up any opportunities presented by his demise.
They're removing his rotten brain or black heart? Could be either by the title.
I was just thinking the same thing, Are they going to pick up Hugo in a 1957 Chevy Station Wagon Ambulance and rush Him to a modern medical facility ? I wouldn’t go to Cuba to have a hang nail removed.
Yep, when you got the prednisone puffies you be on final approach. In his case to Hell.
