The filmmakers Q & A following the screening was also very telling. Their primary motivation for making this apolitical movie about the life of Navy Seals was primarily to pay honor and tribute to the sacrifice these extraordinary individuals make in order for all the rest of us to walk around free.
The liberals in attendance gave the film the same standing ovation I did, because they were drawn into an intense story line that did not choose partisan sides.
Thats not to say that liberals who havent seen the film arent making a partisan issue of it.

My son and I just returned from seeing Act of Valor. Powerful, powerful, powerful. Toward and at the end, the packed theater was completely and utterly silent. After a respectful time, applause.
It was excellent, intense, and makes me appreciate our warriors even more. Go see it, and bring a young person (who’s old enough, of course).
A thought occurred to me after an hour, while considering the campaign to retake OUR White House and OUR Senate. If these patriots do this on our behalf, the very least we can do it preserve what and who they’re fighting for. We can do this.
Hey crosslink,
Have you seen it yet? My son (bauerpauer) and I just returned from seeing it - it’s all he wanted to do on his birthday (well, that and eating a ribeye with me). It was excellent.
My son did a weekend activity with the local Sea Cadets - it’s a great group. He ended up opting to do Police Explorers, which has been very good for him, too. Your son sounds like a wonderful young man.
Let me know what you think...?
Oh my God. By that, he means sitting ducks. No.
Saw the first showing in my small town this afternoon.
6 stars ... cause 5 stars isn’t enough.

A couple of years ago she did The Hurt Locker, which I thought was pretty free from bias and typical Hollywood b.s. For what I mean by the latter, look -- as I have a couple of times this weekend, they keep showing it on TV -- at Lions for Lambs. That one is a real frame-up of Republicans who supported George W. Bush after the Democrats turned on him over Iraq (who didn't see that one coming, from the Infamous Backstabber Benedict Arnold Party?).
Lions for Lambs featured Meryl Streep as the honest journolib who's just trying to get the story straight, Tom Cruise as the good-looking (but morally corrupt, of course) Republican senator-of-the-future (who resembles no Republican senator I know of; he comes across as a more-telegenic Paul Wellstone with GOP politics spraypainted on), and Robert Redford as a university professor.
I did. I loved it. I especially loved the guys (NIGHT!!!) parachuting into the premiere at the Arclight in Hollywood. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
