They are suburbanites and religious people, employers and retirees, millionaires such as John M. Templeton Jr. of Bryn Mawr and homemakers such as Loretta Hill of Devon. What they have in common is an admiration for Rick Santorum.
"No matter what you think about his social views, he's willing to hold his ground," Hill, 58, said. "I think that's one of the things people respect about him."
Pennsylvania's Republican primary may still be two months away, but the presidential campaign of the state's former senator is already raising the excitement level of his supporters back home.
And a new poll suggests their numbers are growing.

It must be what they are hearing. I mean 6 years is a long time in politics and he was very mature about the loss. He picked himself up, dusted himself off and came back ready to go. People are forgiving to politicians. I am so glad. I thought he was given a bum deal and it was an awful year for Republicans so if he can come back and find success than I am for it.
And the media decides who won and who lost. Has Santorum won a debate yet in their estimation. Then the media says that will bring their polls up. We will hear nothing but how wonderful Romney is. The media speaks and we sheeple shall do as we are told!!

Maybe if you’d spend just a little time and effort learning about Santorum’s 2006 loss, you’d know the answer to your question.

It’s not so much that HE changed their perceptions, as that their perceptions have changed in the interim.
Santorum continued to support Bush and the Iraq war, even though most people, even most conservatives, had given up. Remember, Bush felt pretty damned lonely when he ordered the surge. Very few conservatives supported his decision, yet Santorum stood his ground. And for that, he took a terrific beating in 2006, a year that Republicans lost Congress in a rout.
He could have waffled, modified his stances, backed down on backing Bush, but he “took one for the team.” This is admirable, not something to be booed....in fact, if I were Romney, I’d have bussed in a few “booers” just for the occasion....which, when I consider the possibility, just might have happened.

Nope...good point...and when they weren’t watching closely, he goes and wins three in one night and vaults to the front of the pack.

Perry got a raw deal, although he might not be Rhodes Scholar material. They don’t have to be geniuses; they have to have principles, the right principles, and Perry had those.
Bachman couldn’t compete; she was in way over her head. Good riddance.
Cain, as it turns out, was morally inferior, for a Republican anyway. I don’t think he ever really believed he would get as far as he did, but we’re desperate for the ABR candidate this year, and his name came up...until his morals deep-sixed him.
And then there’s Gingrich...sorry, but Krauthammer said it best tonight...when he’s good, he’s very, very good, but when he’s bad....it’s a disaster (paraphrasing, not quoting.)
Except for Perry, the rest deserved their fate. And we’re left with Santorum, and whatever self-perceived warts he comes with. There are not perfect candidates out there, and there never will be.
I agree, and I think this crazy volatility is also due to this constant polling. It seems to have a bandwagon effect. I thought we republicans were smarter than that!
Respectfully disagree. The team he took one for was the establishment wing of the republican party that everyone on FR keeps deriding. That was not a vote for the conservative team by any stretch.
We should definitely look at policies and experience above all else and therefore come to the obvious conclusion that Newt is far and away the best candidate of the bunch.

Scratching my head. What makes this clown think he is Presidential material? Agree, he is much more qualified than the piece of crap in there now, but does not even compare with Mitt or Newt.
Newt got chop-blocked by Mitt and I think he is out of the game.
I can't vote for Paul.
So that leaves me . . . hoping for a brokered convention.
It could happen.
