The field is set.
Tony Stewart won the first Duel under caution and Matt Kenseth took the checkered in a caution-free second event to set the lineup for Sunday's Daytona 500.

Who will ride a lucky airstream to Victory Lane on Sunday?
Will the field get Smoke'd again?

remaining optimistic here if radar is correct.. we may see some racing yet later..
Sweet!
Looks like another major green blob crossing the west coast of FL though.
Yup! And how he complained in his Mechanics Illustrated, or one of those magazines I miss, column.
My ...Hmmm ...hesitate to mention...heros was Jr Johnson. I learned to drive reading his “Guide to Good Driving” book.
Those were the days.
“The racing is as good as its ever been. As a matter of fact, the depth of talent both drivers and crews is undoubtedly the best ever.”
Of course, sure sure sure. Whatever you want to believe.
Powder puff derby more like it. So wimped out even a woman
can do it. I’ll watch this “safest Daytona race ever” if god
ever lets this new national abomination happen.
“Junior Johnson. He didn’t go to MIT but he could teach there.”
“now runs on E15 which is 85% unleaded gasoline and 15% ethanol.”
Why?
Here’s hoping that stuff dissipates or heads North... not much of a gap between blobs. Florida isn’t a very wide state.
If you don’t happen to like NASCAR then feel free to excuse yourself from the race and thread today.
Warm regards,

NASCAR official Steve O’Donnell, asked on Twitter if shortening the race is an option to get it in today, responds, “No, sir. If we start, we intend to run 500 (miles).”
Racing will probably start now. I’ve put away my Bristol beer glass and unloaded the dishwasher for mrs p6.
All sunshine and dry from now on....
I’m not a fan of Danica, but her talent is undeniable.
Anybody who can wheel a car at Indy at 225 mph get my respect.
Small window coming up soon. Then they might get hit again ... unless it moves a tad north. We might get this thing in today.
Tomorrow’s forecast is even worse.
One concern might also be how tired the drivers and crew are. Sitting around and eating beanie weanies always takes my edge off, LOL!
Heh I need to unload the dishwasher. Hope they get this thing in. I don’t like it when they race on Monday.
“Maybe ther should be a total stock class but then probably no one would watch.”
It would be worth the watch to see Free America Ford go up against Government Motors and Fiat. Besides you can get some
total stock cars to go pretty fast with bolt on parts that
don’t void the factory warranty.
Question is do you want to pound the wall at 175 in one of those production cars?
Wish we had a like button or sumthin here sometimes...
think I’ll go to the gardening thread and tell them I hate
flowers.
;-}
If you see Tork, tell him to leave the gardeners alone.. They’re all legal. I checked. 8-}

3:45 p.m. ET — Fifteen minutes until an expected update from NASCAR.
3:33 p.m. ET — Steve O’Donnell is tweeting up a storm today. His latest tweet says that there’s a window on the radar, but adds, “We’ll need the green blob behind it to blow north!” Also, dryers are on the track.
For the record, O’Donnell is the senior vice president of racing operations for NASCAR. So this isn’t exactly the floor sweeper we’re quoting here!
Dittos. She’s a good wheel, way better than I am, but she also has to be able to stand the rookie, noob, ribbing. Guys go through it too.
Do you remember Donna Mae Mims from SCCA, Don Yenko and my part of the world? She was pretty darn good but became known as the pink lady and she capitalized on it.
From the few times I met her she seemed kinda ditzy...might have been an act.
Her pink corvette was on ebay a while back. If I had the money I would have bought it. For mrs p6 of course....
“Set the rules on all the proper safety aspect, but let them run whatever body style, transmissions, shocks, tires etc. that they can come up with. How cool would it be to see one of the old Mercury cars or the Petty car with the high wing spoiler on it?”
There ya go. That’s the way it should be. Safety of the
driver should be a main concern but when they slow the cars
down to the point that a mediocre woman driver can be
competitive in the name of safety, then it’s really not a
drivers skill but a logistics skill race.
