Time to decamp and leave these fools to their fate of living in mud huts and killing each other. Nation building is a failure.

I agree. We can leave and they can have all the death they crave.

Unfortunately we won’t be leaving them to their own fate. We’ll be leaving them to infect our fate in perpetuity.

We’ve got about two choices here. Encourage the Taliban to enter the 21st century with the rest of civilization, or reduce their numbers.

Get US troops out and end the “nation building” fantasy.

A new strategy for Af-Pak should be destabilization. Arm everyone, let them fight each other, and use airpower or special forces as necessary. Same with Pakistan. Encourage them break into their tribal/ethnic/religious factions, and encourage India to dismember them. Make them all weak

It is inevitable Af-Pak will return to a pre- 9/11 situation, but this time, don’t be afraid to attack when/where necessary, or support opponents of any Islamists who return.

It will become messy on the ground, so it is very important that citizens/natives of these countries are not allowed into the USA.

I'm baffled by the fact we are still in Afghanistan.

We have absolutely no interest there and have not since the Specops folks were riding horses to oust the Taliban.

Once the Taliban we deposed and a few thousand killed, we should have simply left.

And if they ever allow their country to become a terrorist training ground again, just bomb and utterly destroy anything on the ground related to terrorism or the support of terrorism.

And never put even one US military member in that cesspool again.

Sad to say this as a retired military, but you are correct. If those savages want to live in the 6th century, let them live that way. Just leave enough small arms ammo and C4 to blow up all of their fellow savages. Take a fully loaded squadron of bombers filled with queerans with self lighting fuel and fuses and drop them over the entire country.

Nation building has a vey poor track record. I can think of only two successes historically: Japan and Germany. Anyways, Karzi words are signs and portents of things to come if the Taliban returns to power.

Demonstrations have drawn thousands of angry Afghans to the streets, chanting "Death to America!" amid violence that has killed 11 people including two U.S. service personnel.

Look how the people of Afghanistan have embraced peace with the West. All the hundreds of billions of dollars were worth it. Wait.

Foreign entanglements are a failure. Get back to Washington’s warning, the Monroe Doctrine, and the principle of isolationism and things would get better. Funny, just occurred to me that this penchant for foreign adventurism is similar to the penchant for the government cram-down we’re suffering here.

We can’t, and never will. Afghanistan supplies 90% of the Worlds Opium. We have kept the routes used to ship this much needed opium open for 50 years. But it was getting harder and harder to procure opium on the open market, now that we are in Afghanistan, Opium and Heroin are making a comeback in the US Big Time. We need Afghanistan to be in the Opium Business more than anyone here would ever believe. Without Drugs we Cannot have a War on Drugs. We will give in to their demands solely to keep the freeflow of Opium to the World.
