He's eluded authorities for more than five years, a mountain man who roams the wilderness of southern Utah, breaking into remote cabins in winter, living in luxury off hot food, alcohol and coffee before stealing provisions and vanishing into the woods.
Investigators have clawed for clues, scouring cabins for fingerprints that match no one and chasing reports of brief encounters only to come up short, always a step behind the mysterious recluse.
They've found abandoned camps, dozens of guns, high-end outdoor gear stolen from the homes and trash strewn around the forest floor.
But the man authorities say is armed and dangerous and responsible for more than two dozen burglaries has continued to outrun the law across a swath of mountains not far from Zion National Park. He's roamed across 1,000 square miles of rugged wilderness where snow can pile 10 feet deep in winter.
And while there have been no violent confrontations, detectives say he's a time bomb. Lately he has been leaving the cabins in disarray and riddled with bullets after defacing religious icons, and a recent note left behind in one cabin warned, "Get off my mountain." "You wouldn't want to come across that guy," said Iron County Det. Jody Edwards, who has been working the case since 2007.

Anyone seen the Wanted poster? I didn’t think so.
If there was one, I’d hope it would say: Shoot to Cripple!
is there “A Squatch in these woods”?
You think he shouldn't?
Guns are loaded. Maybe Glock and Pete could come down and set up a couple of targets.
Davey Crockett,, pioneer, Congressman who served with true honor,,, review his take on using public money for private benevolence. Its a masterpiece of how the nation was intended to run. He fought for Texas independence. And the traditional story was that he died in combat at the Alamo. The De La Pena version says he was captured,, and summarily executed, and remained brave to the end. Both stories, though opposite, one Texian,,, and one Mexican,,,agree on his final bravery.
What an insult to link this turd to a man like Crockett.
Yes. What has he done that is deserving of capital punishment?
It’s that ol’ man D.B.Cooper.....

Wait, I've seen him already! Great show, btw.
You obviously do not understand the implications of thievery and threats, and lunatic land claims,,to the occupants of very rural areas out west.
The guy is a menace, and should be regarded the way you do would a rabid dog. Its a safe bet he’s already killed,, and he would kill if he was interrupted. I don’t see a single hint of decency. The SOB ever leave a note apologizing, but saying he would try to pay them back some day? Nooooo,,, he leaves notes threatening them. And do you know,,, people often stock cabins for their own emergency use,,, or maybe to have one nice thing in their life?
So, yes,, I do indeed. More air for me to breathe,,,,
LOL! My first thought exactly
You may have noticed I haven’t been at my cabin this winter.
"Gee, officer. We keep chickens here in the summer and have to protect them from coyotes, wolverines and raccoons. I had no idea some human would get into our cache of poison bait. I really feel terrible about this. Sniff, sniff, sob. "
Yessir! Lol
Obviously. If caught, would his trial even have the option for capital punishment?
Yea, Mammoth crick from Duck Creek leads right into that little pond called Panguitch.
