I don’t either. I like Newt, and he is my second chioce after Santorum, but I’m going to have a hard time voting for him, not because of anything he has done but because his supporters are really some of the nastiest people I’ve come across on the internet. I say this as someone who used to debate as often the only social conservative on a liberal forum.

“Newt might find his way back to frontrunner status now”

Newt could have brought down the house if he had used another word to best describe himself. Cheerful? are you kidding?

He should have said “The TERMINATOR !”

It would have got everyone our of their seats. We need someone to terminate everything Obama has done the past 3 years.

I approve of Mag’s message also!

Nope. We need a junkyard scrappin pit bull with no fear and a bad attitude...that’s Newt and I’m 100% behind him. I just people here would think for a second that Obama can’t speak in complete sentences without TOTUS or a prepped script. ;)

Anyone up there tonight including RS would flay him alive in a heads up debate.

One thing about Newt is that he KNOWS how the
executive/legislative interaction works. I believe
he, like Reagan could get his work done even through
hostile chambers. He is the only candidate that has
that experience.

I think Palin should Secretary of Energy, if that position still exists, or head the new ESA to replace the EPA. I think Sarah needs some more time to bulk up her policy credentials before running on the presidential ticket again. She was smart personally to resign and spend time doing media and entertainment to make money in these years, but she needs to be more serious for a while before joining another ticket.

I used to think Santorum would be a good V.P., but it seems like he’s going to need more practice taking the heat before he’s ready for that. Maybe this is why he lost in 2006. The Democrats specifically targeted him then like they never had before, and maybe he couldn’t handle the attention.

I think we need to take a closer look at John Kasich for V.P. He has the rust belt, blue collar appeal from a swing state like Ohio and he has been shown to be a very good communicator during his guest hosting gigs on FOX. He was a big conservative name in Newt’s ‘90s Congress and has been pushing the conservative agenda in Ohio, although he got outflanked by the libs on the union vote unfortunately. Going for a Hispanic or woman would also be good strategically of course, but I just don’t know of any candidates ready for prime time in that regard.

I hate to say this but even mitty sounded more presidential than Ricky....

My husband was for Ricky, like a lot here on fr due to polls, but his heart was always with Newt! Well he is back and was even calling people for Newt tonight during the debate! He has had enough of Ricky's pandering and sees that even if we lose.. we lose with the best person to run the country... not a wannabe! Santorum is just not likeable! He has no other qualities.. Net may not be likeable by some, but he has Ideas that can win over people.. Ricky is a wet sweater vset!

Just read this on Sarah Palin’s Facebook page:

“Sarah Palin
Newt’s message on energy development was spot-on. Drill now and stop bowing to foreign regimes begging them to do it for us. Then we’ll all be “cheerful.”

Sounds positive about him, hmmmm?

—>>Ricky just whined to Greta that he was “double teamed” tonight. Lol. Wait till Obama and the MSM get him, he will fold like an accordion.

I agree. Newt is double teamed all of the time-with all of the candidates, the GOP and their allies, by the leftists, and by the leftists media. Newt can win; Rick will not be able to stop Obama. The proof came tonight.

President: Newt Gingrich

VP: Rick Perry or Jim DeMint

Sec of State: John Bolton

Sec of Defense: Allen West

Sec of Treasury: Ron Paul

Sec of Energy: Sarah Palin

Sec of HHS: Rick Santorum

Attorney General: Greta VanSusteren-— I know, heads will explode or people will die laughing... but I think she is determined, hard-working and honest. With her law AND reporting background—I think she could smell out corruption big time.

I’ve grown very tired of Beck lately and listen to music on the way to work instead.

I cancelled my sub to his new show 2 months ago - and never looked back. I really cannot listen to him anymore.

I have a feelig he won't have his show by this time next year.

When ever Newt began to speak, you could almost hear a pin drop. The audience was riveted by his every word. And the wisdom flowed like a fine wine...........That’s the Newt we love and know! God help us if this stupid party lets him slip away!

I truly mean that.

“his supporters are really some of the nastiest people I’ve come across on the internet”

Really? Have you surfed DU lately?

And I disagree with you. All IMO of course, but there are several sub-groups of conservatives, or more accurately sub-focuses of conservatism as a mindset. Some focus more on social, some focus more on foreign policy, etc. I find that the ones readily supporting Newt and laughing at Santorum are “all of the above”, as in no aspect of conservatism is more important than any other - they all matter equally. With that mindset our responses to situations come across as terse, simplistic, and uncaring - while not really being any of the above because for us the response really is that simple. We want very strong, knowledgeable leaders first and foremost.

Yes and what would his seven children have cost the public schools to educate. It's not free despite the rumors, there's a high cost per student. So what Santorum got to educate his kids was offset by what he saved the public school.

Where to begin!

What pray tell did he "save" the public school? First of all the public school WANTS the money it gets per pupil, wants it more than anything, wants it like an addict wants crack.

Second, cyber schools are "free" to state residents because the govt (that'd be we the taxpayers) picks up the tab.
