The new Army, fags and pregnant chicks. What could go wrong?
Well, that just sucks for Japan and sounds like a fantastic opportunity for AAC.
Please tell me this is satire. If it is not, we are doomed. Either that or we need a revolution. But it’s satire, right? Right?
I did think that this was The Onion, at first. Then I remembered that the (alleged) POTUS is, at best, a metrosexual, and that he shares time with the First Wookie, and I realized that we live in the Twilight Zone. So my initial words were along the lines of "GMAFB!" I would really and truly like to hear, uncensored, the R. Lee Ermey reaction to this.
We are so far down the crapper that one Service proudly calls itself a ‘Global Force for Good’.
I used to think that was the Peace Corps, not the United States Navy.
Maybe they will. Officers who order their men to do this sort of thing may get themselves "fragged."
Oh, I quite agree that pregnant women have no business being in the military. But that's not really the question here. I have no idea about the context of why they're getting instruction on how to conduct classes for pregnant women. For all I know they'll be doing classes on post for soldier's wives or something. And while it's true that pregnant women soldiers have no place there, they -are- there and the instructors that conduct those fitness classes need to know what they are doing.
So back to the original point: that this exercise in the context of training new instructors about the realities of pregancy in fitness training-- isn't as absurd as the headline and first few sentences seems to suggest.
Misleading headline. Give me a break. Not even close to what I thought it would be.
I had to double check my calendar to make sure it wasn't April 1st.

As a mom of many, I can say that this training is absurd. Absurd.
I’d just like to have everyone here try to imagine the following people engaged in wearing fake tits and a rubber belly to mimic a pregnant woman...more than that, try to imagine their reaction if you told them to do this:

Me, I think that I’d have refused the order. I have to believe that such is a violation of the military’s rules. Anyhow, I’d love to see the publicity of a court martial in which a soldier was being charged with failing to wear fake tits and a rubber belly.
That might be the solution. CWII would probably not last nearly as long as CWI, since most of the country's servicemen and gun owners would be on the same side.

Well, why not? Learning to be an instructor in -any- subject is very different from merely having the skill that is being taught. Being fit isn't all it takes to teach fitness. There's more about nutrition, biomechanics, sports medicine, leadership, and just plain presentation skills that someone needs if they're going to try to be an instructor.

This week, 14 noncommissioned officers at Camp Zama took turns wearing the “pregnancy simulators” as they stretched, twisted and exercised during a three-day class that teaches them to serve as fitness instructors for pregnant soldiers and new mothers.
ROFL! I was BORN at Camp Zama! And now the military has noncoms wearing PREGNANCY simulators there?!
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but this is ridiculous!
