As a white, male, middle-aged conservative talk radio host from Virginia, John Fredericks is something close to the Platonic ideal of a Fox News fan.
And until last year, he was one. But then Foxs treatment of the Republican primary race the presentation of Karl Rove as a political analyst despite his having thrown in for Romney and Sean Hannitys clear ties to the Republican establishment began to grate on him. So he changed the channel.
The grumblers were picking up on a strategy that has been under way for some time a course correction, as Fox chief Roger Ailes put it last fall with the network distancing itself from the tea party cheerleading that characterized the first two years of President Barack Obamas presidency. Lately, Fox has increasingly promoted its straight-news talent in the press and conducted some of the toughest interviews and debates of the Republican primary season. Just last week, it hired the openly gay liberal activist Sally Kohn as a contributor.

What's your personal top five list of NON-US newspapers on the web for unbiased reporting on US and world news?
conservatives who beleive in the constitution have already found a place... you can reach us at small l libertarian . com..
The radio show is torturous enough. Just what we need on TV... the internet... wherever... more "GET DOWN ON YOUR KNEES AND BUY GOLD!"
Sometimes, I'll save it to listen on Sunday mornings. Slightly more informative than the Rev. Leroy Jenkins... but only slightly.
That's wjhat makes me scratch my head. Roger Ailes is a bright guy so why make a course correction? Obviously there's pressure being exerted from somwhere. Soros? Alaweed? Corrupt law enforcement regarding hacking? Who knows but it's obvious that FOX is not what it used to be.
Fox... news? What the heck is Fox News?
I don’t have a “top 5” - I graze headlines from international sources on Google News, Yahoo, etc. and when the facts seem to mesh on all the sources, it’s a pretty good bet you’re dealing with facts. Or if they’re all spreading the same manure, you know what you got.
Daily Mail
Times of India
(sometimes) Int’l Herald (leftover from living in South America)
Used to watch O’Reilly religiously for the first few years now, never.
F&F has gotten to be just like all the other morning shows on ABCNNBCBS. You ain’t missed nuthin’!..............
This is why it’s some important yo donate monthly to Free Republic! If we lose this wonderful place we’ll have nothing ...
True dat!.........I never thought I’d see the day when Pravda would have more ‘news’ than any US news source...............
“Course correction”?.....yeah, just like they did on the Titanic before it ran into an iceberg and sank.
Hey Roger! Open the portholes to let that cold water out!
Stopped watching in December, couldnt be happier.
I think that’s about the time I cut all ties with all the MSM, including FOX. If it isn’t on FR, it’s not worth the time spent going elsewhere.
I have been watching Fox Business News. Dobbs is a whole lot better than Smith and Freedom Watch comes on after.
I never thought I would ever say that Dobbs is better. But, after watching him on FBN, I can see that he was directed by CNN on what and how to report the news and that is why he got out.
haven’t watched ted baxter in a few years. stopped watching fox altogether about 6 months ago.
It is worth noting that the only mention of Romney in the article was one related to Rove's obvious support for the Romney candidacy. In fact it wasn't just Rove. It was Fox's extremely negative attacks on Gingrich in support of Romney on every show that I watched during the critical early phase of the GOP primary season that, I believe, turned most of the conservative viewers off.
Goodbye Faux News, newest member of the MSM.
I do.
One is to bring on homosexuals to tell me their version of the truth ~ sorry, they have their version and then there's the truth. They simply cannot help themselves when it comes to putting their special spin on things and WE DON'T DO THAT.
Channel changer goes KERTHUNK when one of 'em comes on.
Another thing they can do is to tell me how evil I am to think it's wrong to kill babies. They get unprogrammed when that happens.
