As a white, male, middle-aged conservative talk radio host from Virginia, John Fredericks is something close to the Platonic ideal of a Fox News fan.
And until last year, he was one. But then Foxs treatment of the Republican primary race the presentation of Karl Rove as a political analyst despite his having thrown in for Romney and Sean Hannitys clear ties to the Republican establishment began to grate on him. So he changed the channel.
The grumblers were picking up on a strategy that has been under way for some time a course correction, as Fox chief Roger Ailes put it last fall with the network distancing itself from the tea party cheerleading that characterized the first two years of President Barack Obamas presidency. Lately, Fox has increasingly promoted its straight-news talent in the press and conducted some of the toughest interviews and debates of the Republican primary season. Just last week, it hired the openly gay liberal activist Sally Kohn as a contributor.

What media that has a lot of viewers/listeners/readers, isn’t mainstream?
I make my wife change the channel when I am in the room - Fox has become the establishment republican propaganda channel and is unwatchable for me.
Napolitano is also pro homosexual based marriage. (having said so on the air)
We need a new news channel. Proposed hosts: Judge Napolitano, Walter Williams, Mark Steyn. And get my favorite Fox News reporter: William LaJeunnesse, who seems to have disappeared.
It is sad but not surprising. As long as they stay right of CNN, FOX can pick up new audience as it moves left because conservatives have nowhere to go. Unfortunately, it is not easy to start a new news network, but that’s what’s needed: a news network that would come in at the right of FOX. There is nothing more dangerous to FOX than that eventuality.
Everyone has his faults. I disagree with him on that, but I think he’s a good host otherwise.
Yep, that’s why I stopped watching the news.
It’s not the tea party that has changed and is waning, it’s FOXNEWS that has changed their reporting on the tea party and soon will be waning.
Does anyone use GBTV?
Never happen.
They will never allow a truly conservative channel to get picked up by the cable-satellite companies. Plus a news channel would be impossibly expensive as a startup. Maybe a News-Talk Channel would work.
Besides, liberals have all the money it seems.
That story was completely debunked ... NOT TRUE!
Shocking, a hit piece on Fox News in Politco. Funny I don’t remember seeing any article by them about the tanking ratings of the other news channel. Now that’s the real story.
Fox News rankles Politico, CNN, MSNBC and the rest of the MSM.
Did you notice how easy it was for Fox News to turn left? I bet the staffers are much happier now.
I haven’t had it on Fox since Hub retired in January 2011....FoxandFriends comes on too early and I ain’t gettin’ up for dat....LOL
Did he say he was “for” it,
or is his position simply that the government has no business banning it?
He is a libertarian, ya know.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Stuart Varney on Fox Business is soon replaced, also. His anti tax, anti redistribution, anti big government regulation views are far to firmly stated to be comfortable to the management.
I don’t watch FOX news anymore - I’ll watch CNN or even... *spit*.... MSNBC (to hear their talking points)
