While positive ratings for Congress remain at an all-time low, more voters than ever see the Republican agenda in Congress as extreme.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 35% of Likely Voters say it would be more accurate to describe the agenda of Republicans in Congress as mainstream, while 52% feel extreme is a more accurate description. Thirteen percent (13%) are not sure.

Seriously, that’s the crux of the problem.
The perpetuation of the lie that wealth can be created out of thin air, or “just exists”, and that the government can dip into this “stash” and dole it out.
It comes from somewhere.
It’s borrowed from our grandchildren,
violently confiscated from present taxpayers,
or embezzled from our savings through inflation.
Just non-trivial? Unfortunately, Hussein has a better than 50/50 chance of re-election. He is the odds on favorite.
And as of now, our 2 leading candidates are Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum - either one would lose to Obama. Romney the chameleon might keep it competitive because he can just pretend to be whatever polls tell him voters want in a "generic" candidate, but he would likely lose because the base wouldn't be motivated. Santorum would simply be destroyed. Rick's entire campaign would get sidetracked on social issues in an election year that should be about Obama's terrible stewardship of the economy. I'd guess Romney would lose by 2 or 3 points, Santorum by 5-10 at least.
Newt is the only one I see with a real chance. He'd be a hail mary nominee no doubt - and could implode, but he could be a real game changer in that he can articulate conservatism like few others and is not afraid to take on the media in ways it is hard for them to wiggle out of. Not saying Newt has always acted conservative, but he does truly know what it means, how to explain it, how to contrast it with statism, etc. I see Gingrich as our only realistic option at this point - and even that is going to be a reach.
*** Id like to know what the GOP Agenda is. ***
That’s easy... it’s to get re-elected, and to get more Republicans elected so they can get all the good committee seats. Which in turn, will increase their ability to sell influence and increase their personal wealth.
That’s it, no more, no less. And it’s not extreme, it’s business as usual.
Extrem-ly conservative?
Extreme-ly Pro-Energy, Pro-Defense, anti-Tax.
As opposed to Democrat's being Extreme-ly against balanced budgets, pro-abortion, extreme in their justification of anti-Christian platforms and justifying them with platitudes.
I guarantee you that 90+% of that 52% can’t properly name just 3 parts of the Republican agenda.
You can continue to selectively harvest information that suits your understanding of how you perceive the World, but warnings like this, serve a grand purpose for those who are able to understand them.
How come we never get polls asking if people think the Democrat agenda in Congress is extreme. They still run the Senate and have run the House for most of the last 100 years. Sometimes the very premise of a poll shows the bias of the questioner.
My thoughts exactly. I read my congressman's web page and see nothing but pussy-footin' ! And he is a Republican elected in 2010 ostensibly to impede the downward Obama spiral into socialism. He just barely beat a much stronger conservative who also has a strong, open, and verifiable Christian testimony. He won because the district Republican establishment backed him up all the way. But he didn't win by very much at all.
What IS the Republican agenda (?) is my question as well.
Yep, get control of the “pot” so that you can enrich your friends, wield power over others, and enrich yourselves.
Very little difference from the ‘rats, in that regard.
What you will see is either a Republican president with a Democrat congress or vice versa next November.
And some still consider America a center-right country.
It’s all according to what is meant by “center-right”.
It’s becoming “Newspeak”. The Left controls the language as they always have.
what exactly would that ‘GOP agenda’ be and why do they think it is extreme?
I bet if you ask the exact same people if the government spends too much what the percentages would be.
Rasmussen should have asked: "Is Congress doing a good job restraining President Obama's efforts to redistribute income?
Not that these respondents have any idea what they are talking about. They’ll give some Jay Leno on the street answer and then go off to watch more Rachael Madow.
LOL.. and sadly true.
Where was this poll taken? Harlem?
From what I have been witnessing the Official Republican Agenda is to get re-elected so they can kiss Obama’s ass some more.
Good grief, if the GOP agenda is considered extreme, what the hell do they call the Demo’s agenda???
.
I don’ think the poll says much of anything, actually.
35% say the Republican agenda is mainstream. Roughly, 35% of Americans are Republicans. 13% are still on meds because Whitney Houston is dead and have no clue and admitted as much in the poll. The rest are Democrats and other assorted morons.
Does Obama have a shot at being elected? Yes. He holds in the neighborhood of 50% of the vote according to most polls and that is somewhat consistent with the findings of this poll regarding the “extremist” Republican agenda.
The poll is simply another confirmation that Americans are stupid. “Severely” stupid.
