Santorum is Sneaking Up
February 07, 2012

RUSH: Beth in Boulder, Colorado. I'm glad you waited.
Great to have you on the EIB Network. Hi.
CALLER: Thank you, Rush. I appreciate you taking my call.
RUSH: You bet.
CALLER: I'm calling today from Boulder because I love freedom, and we're having our caucuses in Colorado today.
This weekend I've been listening to the debates, and I wanted to actually see some of the candidates and hear them before I made my decision.
I went to the Santorum speech that he gave up in Loveland on Saturday. And I was surprised.
I've heard a lot in the debate process about jobs and the economy and immigration, and those are vitally important issues, Rush.
But I feel like I feel like the most important issue in this election is freedom.
I've gotten glimmers of that in the debates.
You know, when Santorum was talking about health care and challenging Mitt Romney on that,
and when Newt was talking earlier in South Carolina, I've heard those glimmers.
But I haven't heard anyone come out and express to me as an American, talk to me about my freedom.
I went to this speech on Saturday, and it wasn't a stump.
For the next hour, Rick Santorum -- he came out, he had no notes, no teleprompter
-- had a conversation with us as Americans about our freedom.
And it was the most amazing thing. It was like the CPAC speech that you gave several years ago --
RUSH: No, nothing's like that.
CALLER: I'm not saying that, but it was beautiful.
RUSH: I get your point. Yeah.
CALLER: It was amazing. And he started with King George and the French Revolution and how Americans figured out after the French Revolution --
a war that was fought on our soil for the benefit of England really by Americans
-- that basically the government that gives to you can take away from you.
And he went from there to the Declaration of Independence and our Founding Fathers,
and he dialogued with us about this -- or not dialogued because it was a back and forth.
But he talked with us about this and how our Founding Fathers laid their lives on the line.
They pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor for this
and how the French Revolution was going on at the same time.
And they had the liberty, yes. They had equality. They had fraternity.
And it didn't work because their freedoms were from each other --
RUSH: Let me just...
CALLER: -- unlike our freedoms --
RUSH: Let me tell you something.
CALLER: -- in the Declaration of Independence of Independence, which comes from God.
RUSH: Santorum is sneaking up.
Public Policy Polling has a story out today (the North Carolina polling firm) that he's gonna do well in Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado.
If all these things happen, it could have the potential, the possibility, to upset the applecart --at least from the standpoint of inevitability for Romney. And I find it fascinating.
Romney all of a sudden...Now there's a big opposition research file on Santorum.
Now they think they've banished Newt, so it's Santorum."The only difference between Santorum and a bag of excrement is the bag."
Last week Santorum was the nicest guy in the world!"Sweet guy. So sad about his daughter."
Today, Santorum is no different than a bag containing excrement. That's it,
and I think it's too late to pull this. This is typical opposition research. All of the people are sophisticated now.
All of a sudden, all this rotten stuff about Santorum?
He's a big government conservative?
He is talking about freedom, you're exactly right.
And this HHS, Health and Human Services, mandate against the Catholic Church is a great example of how we are losing our freedom.
It's about how it's being challenged on all fronts.
And I said:Santorum, of the conservatives remaining, is the one with the least baggagein terms of abandoning conservatism at times over his career.
I'm glad you called, Beth.
I appreciate it.

Presidential hopeful Rick Santorum brings campaign to Loveland.
GOP candidate speaks to 500 Northern Colorado supporters.
By Chadwick Bowman Reporter-Herald Staff Writer
Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum rallied about 500 Northern Colorado supporters Saturday
who brought a wide range of issues they wanted addressed.
The former Pennsylvania senator made the stop at the First National Park Exhibition Hall at The Ranch.
It was the second of three events he scheduled throughout the day.
Santorum also spoke in Montrose and Greeley as he tried to gain momentum before Colorado's Republican primary vote on Tuesday.
Santorum spoke for 30 minutes about domestic and foreign issues and took questions from the audience afterward for about 15 minutes.
Santorum says he is the only candidate in the race who maintains a consistent conservative voting record
and places importance on family and faith values.
He touched on issues that included the Wall Street bailouts, natural gas drilling and the need for a free market.
He also spent time talking about his support in repealing President Obama's recent legislation, the Affordable Care Act.
"I would not be in this race today if it wasn't for Obamacare (Affordable Care Act)," Santorum said.
"Obamacare is a game changer for America."
Audience members also expressed their concerns for the Affordable Care Act,
which Santorum said is identical to his primary challenger's, former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney,
health care legislation he passed while governor.
"I think my mind is changed,"
said Patrick Smith, 27, a Berthoud resident who said he had decided on another candidate before Santorum's rally."Obamacare was definitely one of the big issues and absolutely just getting rid of every part of it.
Not kind of getting rid of it, but eliminating the entire thing."
Smith also said he is excited to be a part of the political process at such a crucial time,
sentiments echoed by Santorum who stressed the importance of this year's election throughout his speech.
"I'm leaving here with the feeling of being empowered," Smith said.
The audience, many of whom self-identified as Tea Party members when asked by Santorum,
raised questions on topics including second amendment rights, which Santorum supports,
campaign financing and the wealth disparity in the country.
Peden Meinhold, an 18-year-old high school senior from Loveland held his hand up to ask Santorum a question but was never called on.
He said he wanted to ask the former senator a question about education.
"It seems like there's been a lot of stuff going on and we haven't really focused on education," Meinhold said.
"I believe that's a big part of getting America back on track. ...
In school all we hear about is how we are behind China and how we need to close the gap.
Lowering college tuition costs is a big thing right now, especially for a senior."
The campaign speech was preceded by speakers Sue Sharkey, a member of the board of regents at the University of Colorado,
and former congressman in the 4th congressional district Bob Schaffer --
both of whom have declared support for Santorum.
"I want everyone here to commit to one another and to ourselves that we're going to show up to those caucuses," Schaffer said.
"Were are going to make as many friends as we possibly can so we can cast our vote,
and when we do, we're going to cast our vote and support for Rick Santorum for president of the United States."
Rhonda Singer, a Sterling resident and mother of two daughters, sat in the front row during the rally.
"This is the most important election since I've been voting," Singer said.

Yeah, yawn, great victory, no delegates.
Pond scum lawyer is being bankrolled by Romney supporters (stalking horse) and voted to force workers to belong to unions and pay dues against their will, then lost by 17% in his reelection because he endorsed Specter over Toomey.
Then he endorses that degenerate Romney in 2008, and his family in Italy are all communists.
Yeah a real "conservative".

In Mitt Romney’s speech he looks like he is on a Saturday Night Live skit as a stand up comedian...and even when Mitt Romney is trying a little humor, he’s not even good at that... phoney as a Pink Florida plastic Flamingo.

It’s a good thing Santorum isn’t God, and that I’m not Catholic.

Yeah, yawn, great victory, no delegates. Winning in Missouri, Minesota, and Colorado is impressive, whether you wish to be honest and acknowledge it or not.
Pond scum lawyer... Rick Santorum is a decent person. His children are home schooled. He is not pond scum, and you're tearing nobody down but yorself by making that kind of a slander of him.
...is being bankrolled by Romney supporters (stalking horse) and voted to force workers to belong to unions and pay dues against their will, then lost by 17% in his reelection because he endorsed Specter over Toomey. Then he endorses that degenerate Romney in 2008,... I have no way of knowing how much of this is true, but the desperation to make Santorum look bad so folks can buy off on Newt is pathetic to watch. We're not free to address Newt's shortcomings here right now, but boy some folks sure do get a kick out of tearing everyone else down with impunity.
I don't support everything that Santorum has done. I at least acknowledge that I disagree with him stridently when I do, which is more than I can say for other candidate's apologists.
...and his family in Italy are all communists. Seriously, this is so childish. Are you responsible for what everyone in your family is or has done?
Yeah a real "conservative". As opposed to who? Opposed to some other very popular people, he actually is.

Should old acquaintance be forgot, and never brought to mind ?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and old lang syne ?
For auld lang syne, my dear, for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely youll buy your pint cup ! and surely Ill buy mine !
And we'll take a cup o kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
We two have run about the slopes, and picked the daisies fine ;
But weve wandered many a weary foot,
since auld lang syne.
We two have paddled in the stream, from morning sun till dine ;
But seas between us broad have roared
since auld lang syne.
And theres a hand my trusty friend ! And give us a hand o thine !
And well take a right good-will draught,
for auld lang syne.

Is that the speech where Sanctimonium said God called him to run... Or maybe it was the speech - no that was a debate - where Sanctimonium said he had the quality of character that Americans wanted in their President, and not a lot of personal baggage...
To: American Constitutionalist
Prediction (just guessing):
Romney implodes.
RINOS stampede in panic.
They search far and way and quickly find a stand in, such as Jeb Bush or somebody else of name brand, to stand in the gap and be the RINO candidate at the GOP convention.
I am sure the RINOS have their own "Plan B" well in place, too, if the grassroots conservatives REVOLT, as they just proved in three states in the last 12 hours. Look for talking heads like Laura Ingraham, Karl Rove and others to harp it to death 24/7 as the only way to "unite the big tent and knock out Obama".
