Following the fall out over the controversial Chrysler Super Bowl halftime ad, Clinton Eastwood spoke exclusively with OReilly Factor producer Ron Mitchell
"I just want to say that the spin stops with you guys, and there is no spin in that ad. On this I am certain. l am certainly not politically affiliated with Mr. Obama. It was meant to be a message about just about job growth and the spirit of America. I think all politicians will agree with it. I thought the spirit was OK....

The whole premise of “It’s halftime in America, too” is patently false.
Is the half life of the American experiment 235.5 years, Clint?
You’re what, 80 years old and didn’t even realize how those words alone would indicate to people, especially int his politically charged climate, that you were shilling for another term for Obama?
Seriously?
Just seeing those words on a script should have given you pause.
FAIL!
I guess it’s how you want to see it. I know Eastwood generally leans conservative, so I was surprised to see him doing the ad. But I think from his perspective was just pro-America, not for any party.
Chrysler’s new sales pitch:
Even if you don’t buy one,
We still get your cash.

Well played, sir.
Ah, a little sanity among the knee-jerk crowd. Having met Clint Eastwood and having worked with him a little, I will take him at his word also. He is an aytpical Hollywood personality.
...they didnt film in Detroit.
&&&
Well, I can’t hold that against them. Is there even any electrical service available in Detroit?
Green Bay let the Broncos score a touchdown in the Super Bowl in order to save time. Didn't work out though.
Ok. So in hindsight the Packers defense was told to let the Broncos score the game winning touchdown in hopes that their offense would make it up for them, but they didn't.
Obviously it can work, but it seems to be as perverse as letting Obama win in order to teach America how bad socialism is.
Another take on the subject...
Eastwood is an actor, he delivers lines and makes faces for a living. He didn’t have to hate Mexicans to shoot so many of them in his westerns. Do printers only print things for Republicans? Do taxi drivers refuse to drive Democrats places?
Everybody here has taken money from Democrats/liberals in order to make a living. The attempt to make this an issue is silly. If you are an actor and you are given the chance to be seen during the Super Bowl, you are taking the contract 98% of the time.
1. he went to Oreily. ZERO credibility.
2. Chrysler is not a US company any more. It is itallian.
3. Is eastwood REALLY this stupid?
Ok, well not so blatant that the Giants were confused about the Patriots letting them in.
Anyway, the point is that stopping to sit on your tush is kinda too elegant by half, compared to the smashmouth fights previous generations called "gridiron." If Patton owned the team, wouldn't he be down there threatening to shoot someone for being a coward?
You obviously have not driven the 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT 392.
I hope you’re wrong about Detroit...have family there who have seen the steep decline. Very hard to stay in positive frame when you live around the Detroit area.
As for the Clint commercial. Call me naive, I liked the pro American aspect. As in don’t count us (the US) out. We may have been knocked down...but our American spirit won’t keep us down for long. I really thought it was a rah, rah, go USA! USA! USA!
To me it could also have been about our ability to come back after 9/11. I sure didn’t read any pro Obama into it. Clint’s always been a California conservative...at least in my mind. I loved his gruff, Dirty Harry voice that read, “make my day” and underestimate the USA at your peril.
No, you're just his useful idiot.
I’m with you. I have a Ford pickup, and I will never buy anything but Ford. Screw Government Motors!
I hope people aren’t too hard on Mr Eastwood. These campaigns are exactly cut-n-dry to those not paying attention to the details.
I so have a crush on that man. Mike Rowe...that is.
It’s times like this I really enjoy living overseas. That commercial was extremely well done, and exemplified what every foreigner that I speak with loves, and envies, about America - the tough spirit, ability and willingness to recover, and optimism.
I think its a bit difficult to recognize that when living stateside, especially of late, but the rest of the world notices it, whether they like to admit or not.
It’s nice to see something that reminds Americans to be proud of what they can and will do for a change. I can guarantee you that if it were at all political (any side), that wouldn’t have been the case. Even the Chrysler logo at the end seemed toned down.
On another note, when foreigners think of Americans, Clint Eastwood (or his persona, at least) is often used as a stereotype - I’m just fine with that.
